I'll try!! Robert is so right, it seemed like the rain was circling around my house all afternoon. Then BAM, it formed overhead and didn't move out. So don't give up hope! :)

Getting a few drops here, but the latest radar image (and sound of thunder to my south) shows I 'm probably going to get skipped mostly. The outflow just developed a new line of cells to my immediate south. The storm was coming right for me, then began collapsing quickly. Still may get something.

got totally skipped here. The storm was nearly on top of me, high echo returns, then complete *poof*. 3 or 4 drops is it.

really? I got totally pounded with rain, really poured for at least fifteen minutes and just plain light rain for a while. And it cooled it down to a nice 71 degrees.

I guess I should'nt complain picking up .90 but I missed a gully washer to the S only by a couple miles.Radar is estimating 2-3 inches there.

More cumulus growing just to the NW so I'll watch that.

LOL I would kill for half of that, .90" is more rain than we have had total in the last 6 weeks :yikes:, gonna be a long summer at this rate. Temp outside is 95 with hardly a cloud in the sky........

No rain at my house this afternoon, but I drove through the heart of the storm in Hickory around 3:30. Incredibly heavy rain and hail pounding the car. Downtown Hickory was full of urban flooding because the water had no where to go. I saw trees split in half by the wind and the street signs were blowing back and forth. It was actually a little frightening for a while as I hoped no power poles would get snapped and bring the lines down over the road. I crawled through the streets at 5 mph because I couldn't see a thing in front of me. Pretty amazing storm.

Just drove through Patterson Springs and into Shelby to pick upa Pizza. Turns out Pizza hut lost power right after my order, so wasted trip. Huge difference in the area where it obviously rained, the ditches were full the entire trip until I hit my road, literally. Thats how close it was.

We got about 2 to 2.5" here near I640 today in Knoxville. I thought it wasn't going to rain then about 3PM the bottom fell out and we even got quite a bit of hail. I've still got the sprinklers running on a timer though but I think my grass definitely said thank you to that.

It was also enough to knock out the power for an hour, too.

Really hoping that we can catch a break from the heat for a part of next week. The GFS, CMC, and Euro all agree on a closed upper level system that will cross the Ontario region during the early part of next week and head eastward, causing a trough that will develop near the East coast. Heights are lowered some as high pressure builds to our north, circulating the air to a more easterly flow which will allow temperatures to be potentially in the low to mid 80s for high in some areas, particularly across the Carolinas with low humidity for a refreshing air mass. This will only be short-lived though (around 3 or 4 days) as the ridge is expected to make its comeback for the second half of the week, boosting temperatures back into the 90s for highs once more and back into the usual summer shenanigans. We'll see though. I'm not completely sold on the idea just yet but looks promising. It would do a lot of us some good to be able to stay outside longer for outdoor activities.

Had pop up storms around me most of the afternoon and evening and not a drop of rain! I literally had friends who live 5 miles north and west of me get soaked and zippo here..... frustrating but congrats to those who did get something.
