1234snow
Hello Everyone, I'm new to American Wx Forums. I've posted at Accuweather for about 3 years now and discovered this site many months ago and have been reading ever since. I live in the very Southwestern tip of Virginia and get my forecasts from Morristown in Tennessee. Just wanted to say that y'all know your stuff when it comes to weather and that goes especially to Foothills NC. He could be talking about anything and make it sound interesting and informative. Had a thunderstorm pop yesterday from that dying MCS that made it all the way from Canada but it didn't produce much rain just lots of lightning. Looks like today all the storms are over in the NC mountains with a couple popping in the higher terrain northwest of here. Hopefully the ridge will move back to the west and flatten out so we can get some better convection over the next couple of days.

I figured you had something up your way. Nothing ever really occurred down in my neck of the woods on account of its bad timing (during the evening). Meanwhile, the thermodynamics have been rather generous to our Appalachian friends recently per recent mesoanalysis data. The atmosphere has been for the most part very favorable with good destabilization occurring despite present weak shear. With the slight weakening of the upper ridge as it manages to get displaced to the east a bit of our area, as well as an enhanced lifting from weak upper divergence and an eroding cap, this should repeat for tomorrow but this also leaves potential for areas outside the mountains to get in on the storms. Looking for anything to bust this heat.

Welcome aboard. Nice, my area has been very lucky this spring in regards to severe weather seems like every supercell has went to the southeast of us and up through Colonial Heights, Blountville and then on up through Bristol and Abingdon. Largest hail size I've seen is about nickel sized and I might have seen a funnel during that horrible outbreak back in April but it was tough to tell at night, probably just scud clouds. Got lucky with the MCS that come through a couple of weeks later too.
SN_Lover
Asheville be on the lookout for 2" hail. Storm should be entering downtown shortly. The worst of the storm should stay to the south of UNCA.

NC_hailstorm
No rain here in 12 days(not counting a couple sprinkles),grass is starting to turn a little brown and crunchy in spots. These hot temps are starting to take a toll.
