daddylonglegs
That is the daily record. From what i can gather the record low in Miami is around 30F??? I know in Homestead, FL the lows have been down to the mid 20Fs (in the past, not today/tomorrow)... That would wipe out everything down there. MJW155
Key West is sitting at 54 degrees as of 3 PM. It was 59 at midnight which is the warmest reading today. http://www.weather.g...story/KEYW.html High so far in Ft. Lauderdale is 52. Dewpoint is 15, lol. http://www.weather.g...story/KFXE.html
beavis1729
So far today, the high temp in Miami is only 52F. Even more impressive is that the dewpoint is currently 10F!!!! If today's high goes in the record books at 52F, it will be the 4th coldest high temp ever recorded in Miami in December. (1) 45F on 12/24/1989 (2) 51F on 12/25/1983 (3) 51F on 12/12/1957
Lookout
I had my doubts the models were right on the dewpoints in south florida for today but it looks like they were pretty close. Nam/gfs had been showing dewpoints as low as near 0, (even below zero in miami at one point) but moderated into the single digits/teens as we drew closer today. Indeed, dewpoints are in the teens and single digits inland...especially from the lake northward. Even the east coast of florida has single digits which is incredible I think since usually the ocean is able to moderate/moisten the atmosphere a little. But the high/flow is just right to drain that cold dry air down the peninsula. To me the dewpoints are every bit as impressive as the temperatures. roardog
Mid 30s in Miami with wind this morning must have felt frigid. 50F with wind in Key West was probably equally frigid. Does everyone have heat in Key West?

daddylonglegs
NWS San Juan (Puerto Rico) .DISCUSSION...A COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO REACH THE LOCAL ATLANTIC WATERS LATE TONIGHT...AND THEN MOVE SLOWLY SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE LOCAL AREA WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY. PER NCEP COORDINATION AND MODEL PROJECTIONS...EXPECT THIS BOUNDARY TO BE A SLOW MOVER AND SHOULD BE ENOUGH MOISTURE AND MID TO UPPER LEVEL JET DYNAMICS AVAILABLE...TO RESULT IN A PERIOD OF ACTIVE WEATHER...PROBABLY LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MOST OF WEDNESDAY...WITH THE NORTH AND INTERIOR SECTIONS OF PUERTO RICO MOST AT RISK FOR AT LEAST SOME LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL AND THE POTENTIAL FOR AT LEAST SOME MINOR FLOODING. HAVE MADE SOME CHANGES TO SHORT TERM GRIDS TO TRY TO SHOW THIS THINKING. REMNANTS OF BOUNDARY WILL LINGER ACROSS THE LOCAL ISLANDS THROUGH THURSDAY AND POSSIBLY THURSDAY NIGHT...BEFORE IT IS FAR ENOUGH SOUTH OF THE LOCAL ISLANDS AND WEAK ENOUGH THAT IT SHOULD NOT HAVE A BIG EFFECT ON THE LOCAL SENSIBLE WEATHER. AT THIS TIME...GENERALLY FAIR AND DRIER CONDITIONS ARE INDICATED FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. Looks like these fronts do make it pretty far south. Thats some very impressive cold in Florida, this amplified pattern did the job. Just 9 degrees from the all time low. Thats like my area getting to 1 or 2 degrees. I think our all time low is -7 or -8.
toad strangler
I was in Orlando today for a work seminar. After every break most of us ventured outside to see how things were moderating. Well, there was no moderating . The first time since I have been in FL that a full sun failed to dent what was biting cold even after 12 PM. Quite an event. Bubbler86
Only down to 23 in Summerfield...and have an Ocala temp at 25 though the official station is reporting 21. Either way, 6-8 degrees warmer when compared to last years break out. Daytimes temps were quite impressive, though. Just did not get nearly as low. Which is not a bad thing. I am glad we did not see any of those seemingly obligatory "It is not even winter yet" responses. The majority of winter weather is late November through about March 1...not what the calendar says. WeatherNC
How did the crops fare during the past week. My family loves the OJ and just curious. Thanks My moms maters and peppers had 3rd degree burns, and are toast, this is in Brevard County (east central FL, same county the space shuttle launches from). She lives on the inter-coastal so there is some modification from the water, but a stiff NW puts CAA into full effect. She lost several palm trees last winter with a lesser cold snap, so imagine a few more will be dead this year. Very unusual to see most of the peninsula under hard freeze warnings, two nights in a row, especially in the first part of Dec. Stock up on the OJ now as prices are likely to go through the roof once the damage is tallied on the crop.
