Stebo
Actually, parts of CA are indistinguishable from parts of Australia all of the way down to types of trees. However, you are probably right though the damage shot suggests a stronger than average CA tornado-this pix may not be of it. Actually they are the exact same picture, whoever gave it to the news just photoshopped out the AustraliaWeather part.
OHweather
Actually some decent video of a tornado that touched down near Monroeville, OH: http://www.newsnet5....le-huron-county PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CLEVELAND OH 430 PM EDT THU MAY 26 2011 ...TORNADO CONFIRMED/HURON COUNTY... LOCATION...MONROEVILLE IN RIDGFIELD TOWNSHIP TO NORWALK TOWNSHIP DATE...MAY 25 2011 ESTIMATED TIME...6:00 TO 6:15 PM EDT MAXIMUM EF-SCALE RATING...EF1 ESTIMATED WIND SPEED...AROUND 100 MPH MAX PATH WIDTH...100 YARDS PATH LENGTH...APPROXIMATELY 8 MILES * THE INFORMATION IN THIS STATEMENT IS PRELIMINARY AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE PENDING FINAL REVIEW OF THE EVENT AND PUBLICATION IN NWS STORM DATA. ...SUMMARY... INITIAL TOUCHDOWN OF THE TORNADO OCCURRED ON THE SOUTHEAST SIDE OF MONROEVILLE NEAR A CEMETERY. THE BEGINNING OF THE TRACK INDICATED MAINLY A DOWNED TREE BUT MAINLY TRACKED THROUGH FARM FIELDS. THE TORNADO CONTINUED EAST AND CROSSED HALFWAY ROAD SOUTH OF U.S. ROUTE 20. A BARN LOCATED ALONG HALFWAY ROAD WAS DESTROYED. THE TORNADO CONTINUED EAST SOUTH OF U.S. ROUTE 20 AND LIFTED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF NORTH GREENWICH MILAN TOWN LINE ROAD AND TIGER ROAD. SOUTHEAST OF NORWALK. APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 12 HOMES AND SEVERAL BUSINESSES WERE DAMAGED. THERE WERE A FEW ROOFS BLOWN OFF HOMES...WHILE OTHERS HAD TREES FALLING ON THEM CAUSING DAMAGE. THE BUSINESSES EXPERIENCED PRIMARILY ROOF DAMAGE. THE MAJORITY OF THE DOWNED TREES WERE OBSERVED EAST OF HALFWAY ROAD ALONG THE TORNADO PATH. $$ ABE CLE also confirmed a 6 mile path of strait line wind damage just northwest of Akron, OH with a storm that prompted a tornado warning a little after 7:30 last night. There were a number of funnel cloud reports, and CLE notes this in their survey: SOME LARGE TREES WERE SHEARED NEAR THEIR TOPS ALSO CUYAHOGA FALLS. THE LARGE TREES THAT WERE SHEARED OR SNAPPED NEAR THEIR TOPS LEAD TO SOME INDICATION THERE MAY HAVE BEEN AN ELEVATED FUNNEL CLOUD ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM. HOWEVER...ASSESSMENT OF THE DAMAGE INDICATED THAT ROTATION DID NOT REACH THE GROUND. A 6 mile long 50 to 75 yard wide path of strait line winds, which is interesting. hoosierwx
Just got power back. I would say hundreds of trees down across the county. What a week, I only had power for one full day out of the last five.

aslkahuna
Problem with the tornado in those pictures... Real Not so real... Apparently either Australia and California have the same exact scenery or its a fake. Based upon the video on weather .com it's a fake. One major giveaway, besides the structure of the actual tornado is that the grassland in the pix is not green and lush enough. Steve

Chicago WX
Chad the rebel http://blogs.wlfi.com/2011/06/01/may-25-storm-damage-update/ I'm sorry, but lolz I would like to head out toward Rossville & far southern Carroll, as the radar data was so strong for a tornado, I would not be surprised if one brushed the tree tops, or there is brief touchdown evidence in crop stubble/young corn plants.
