The Dallas market may be the worst TV market in the country for severe weather coverage...which is shocking. One station not even bothering to come on air...another taking commercial breaks as the tornadic circulation is over Downtown Dallas...yet another led by somebody who makes Dave Brown here in Memphis look like a Greg Forbes...and overall horrendous reporting that's leading to multiple errorenous or at least misleading/confusing things getting out there. Just embarrassing...

Not every market is going to be OKC obviously...but what a contrast Today.

Yeah, feel like I got egg on my face for passing along the reports from the different local channels this evening

That puts it NE of Hutchens, which jibes with DCMetroWinston's post. I forgot that part of the loop around Dallas was also I-20.

Everybody quickly forgets both DFW and Love Field reported tornadoes earlier.

Well if a very damaging tornado went thru Dallas it would probably surface fairly quickly. People may just misuse terms and inadvertently cause confusion.

Yeah, if there had been one near either airport we'd have damage reports already. I think a lot of funnel clouds and rain cores were reported. People are jumpy after Joplin.

Exactly Ian...there may have been a weak tornado or funnel cloud...but heck, believing all told, there would've been like 5 wedge tornadoes reported.

It's looking like this was an outbreak of sheriffnados, including the large wedge sheriffnado ongoing now.

Nobody's saying it was a very damaging tornado, at least I'm not. It's just the people saying this was just a severe storm, are completely wrong.

KXAS 10 pm news did show 2 impressive funnels near each other in Northwest Tarrant from earlier in the evening, (possibly) associated damage at an Allsup's gas station looked very meager, minor awning damage around the pumps.

Funnels were impressive, but not in contact with round (during clip) and no apparent debris below them.

High LCLs might have helped.

Friend of mine, who lives in Ft. Worth, his sisters' car was destroyed by baseballs in Dallas. She had to abandon it, and run to safety. Just talked to him.Saying he saw 3 seperate tornado touchdowns in Tarrant County. He saw roofs off, and tons and tons of hail damage, throughout Tarrant County.
