pazzo83
86F at JFK on a NE wind. Is this their highest temp of the season thus far? I don't remember them getting this hot in the past week. Yes, 86 is their max thus far. http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KJFK/2011/5/31/MonthlyHistory.html
Isotherm
It's impressive for the morning lows to stay above 70 degrees across our area on may 31st. Got down to 66.5 here in Monmouth. For my area we need a 90-95 degree day to keep us 70+ at night.
Isotherm
running toe to toe with Newark at the moment...86...but I assume we will stay warmer for a hrs when the seabreeze works in there. Interesting dew point gradient too. Generally upper 60s from my area west while coastal Monmouth has upper 50s/60F dews right now. That's a difference b/t feeling comfortable and feeling sticky as hell.

ag3
It's May. Yup. Nice stretch of above normal weather, this past week. Warmed up the coastal waters and kick started the striped bass migration. Now looking foward to a long stretch of normal 75-80 degree weather, after Wednesday.

Unbelievable how you guys are being so incredibly closed minded. Our average highs are in the low to mid 70's and several locations have seen four or five days of upper 80's temperatures in a row. I've had +14 or more departures since thursday...and you guys just continue to post sarcastic posts about how the heat has not verified. earthlight
EWR the last four days of may +12, +10, +11, +15 with temps of 88, 85, 87, and 92. Today once again 87 and rising despite northeast winds.

Sea breeze has not kicked in here yet. 84.2 at the midtown PWS and rising. This PWS is actually on 23rd between 1 Ave and FDR (i.e. very close to the east river), so when that wind starts to shift to the SE it starts dropping before the Central Park station does. Seabreeze is not here yet either...but it might be closer than we think. EWR is 87 but has an east wind which was northeast earlier today. I'm wondering if it's the kind of thing that may be slow to develop. The NAM shows this with the winds going east..but staying so weak that the seabreeze penetration takes a while. Check out how it has the weak east winds, but temperatures near 90 F anyways.

And I am thrilled about it as its bringing the water temps up to the magical number I need for the annual striped bass migration. Just want it to stabalize now to keep them around for the next month. Striped bass are dependant on water temps. Need water to stay under 72. I hope it does.

Yea, in the past five obs in NYC we had: 851am: NE 8mph, 78/59 951am: NE 8mph, 78/59 1051am: SE 9mph, 79/60 11:51am: E 10mph, 82/61 12:51pm: E 10mph: 85/62 So, the temp is still rising, the dewpoints are rising, regardless of the wind right now. TheTrials
I'm not leading anything. My posts were all about last week and reaching 90. I haven't commented on or taken a position on this weeks temperature and haven't posted in four days till I was messing with earthlight this morning and his fear of 85 degrees. I will say I struggled to walk 18 holes yesterday it was so humid and it definately felt hot yesterday.

I have a pretty high tolerance for heat/humidity growing up in VA, but it was definitely HOT yesterday.

Now looking foward to a long stretch of normal 75-80 degree weather, after Wednesday. may will finish between 2.5 and 3.5 above normal for most locations in the area which is on par with 2010. I also think we remain on the plus side of normal into next week before some moderation before another potential warmup on/around Jun 8.
