2008 all over again? That year continues to be a great analog to the present IMO...

Either way early June looks to torch; bring it on.

I think June temperatures will be above normal around NYC but I'm not committing to the rest of the Summer just yet...1967 saw its hottest temperatures in June but the rest of the summer was cool...1956 had its hottest temperatures in June but the rest of the Summer was on the cool side....I believe 2008 had a warm June and July but a cooler August...That May was a lot cooler than this years May...

Yeah definitely not a perfect match (there never is) but I think the progression may be similar. I'm pretty confident on a cooler August, and even if we have a normal July temp wise, that's still very warm for us.

Heat's been underperforming...no way we get into the 90s today.

83.1/73 Partly Cloudy

yeah that convection that rolled thru in the early morning hours kept us from getting a good head start in the 70's/low 80's....i think, otherwise 90 would have been easier to reach..

it looks like we wont hit 90 tomorrow either

Disagree, most places cleared by 10am, plenty early with all the daylight we've got at this time of time.

Already 90F at PHL and upper 80s for much of NE and central NJ. I'm at 86.6 and rising, warmest temp of the year thus far. KEWR at 87.

Despite heat indexes in portions of interior NJ exceeding 90, dps being in the mid to upper 60's are still barely manageable, except for extreme se NJ - ACY at 74 and coastal Delmarva - Ocean City at 72 (The accuracy of Dover, Del's high dps for the past several hours seems highly suspect).

It often seems like we need a 93-94 degree day areawide to get the park over 90. Especially this spring with all the rain, one can only imagine how forested/surrounding by jungle the ASOS station is right now.Newark 91F and NYC 86F -- a 5 degree difference, that's a lot considering their close distance. Although to NYC's defense, LGA stayed in the 80s, a usual warm spot.

LGA is a few miles from Central park. Their temps have been similar this whole week, including today.

78-86. Central Park was forecasted to hit 92 today. Fell 6 degrees short.

Damn. NYC was 5-6 degrees below forecast. Not even close to 90.

The morning rain did it. The sun's energy went towards drying up the moisture before it could heat up the air. I got into the mid 80s also, but stopped at around 85 or so.
