June likely to come in with a summer-like scorch

It's in the upper 70s dry and partly cloudy. Isotherm today is the typical spring day. And we've had many others as well. It's not my fault you and earthlight live next to geothermal vents.

Lol. It is time for some folks to come to grips with the idea that this summer is likely to be not as hot as last year. It could still be noticeably hot but a duplicate of last year is highly unlikely.

I knew that all along that it will be awhile to get summer to be as hot as last year. I wouldn't want hot dry summer anyway but as long we don't get a summer like 2009 or 2000 I will be happy.

WOO HOO! Days start getting shorter which means winter is coming!

Live and enjoy. We got past the worst few months of every year which is springtime. Too many cool cloudy uncomfortable days. All in the past now. Time to track some hurricanes and hope for a el nino :snowman:

Seriously-those people must not live/work in the urban areas that turn into toxic saunas in that kind of heat. After it gets above 95 here due to the humidity, it becomes unbearable.

I would welcome a summer like last year...and I work outside. The humidty was not bad at all last year.

I hit 85 today which is above normal and quite summerlike

12z NAM has 80-87 degrees today, tomorrow and Wednesday and then shows temps in the upper 60's and low 70's for Thursday as highs.

lots of luck for that to verify.

also today most certainly would have been a beach day, some others this week too, it does not have to be brilliant sun, mix of sun and clouds with temps at least 80 and some humidity is definitely beach weather

To me at least, a typical spring day means temps are within the normal range for April/May (about 60 to 75) with dews no higher than 60. High temps in the low 80s with dew points in the low 60s like we've had the past few days qualifies as summer weather IMO. I was in the pool both days this weekend, and Father's Day was quite hot sitting outside in the sun, certainly far from spring like.

My post earlier was more joking around, there have been a handful of spring days over the past month even here in the 9th circle of dante's inferno aka New Jersey. But the vast majority of days have been summery in the May 20th-June 20th period, and that's definitely not something that can be said for many years (see 2009 - 58-60 degree highs into mid/late June).

No, this summer will be nowhere near last summer heat wise, and I don't think anyone has forecasted that. With that said, let's not diminish the fact its been a warm to very warm June over the Eastern US, save for coastal New England:

It's all 2-3 days driving the warm anomaly though...we have not seen consistent heat this June at all. Most days have been comfortable with a smattering of quite crisp nights.

Who would want a 2009 one?

I'll take 2010 (but not as dry) for 200 Alex.

Hell, I'll give you an infinite loop of repeating winter 2009-10 thru summer 2010 thru winter 2010-11 for free!

All of these heat haters really seem to forget that there is a nice correlation between hot summers and snowy winters.... take away that hot summer and more likely than not, you lose your chance at a snowy winter too (not including big enso factors of course.)

The model guidance overnight overall, has a heat ridge building out over Rockies and Central Plains next week. I think with the -AO/-NAO pattern also forecast to break down next week, there's more potential for some of that heat make to us, going into early July.
