June likely to come in with a summer-like scorch

We all know the Mayor banned smoking at NY beaches, I think the next step will be to ban outdoor smoking altogether on days with heat advisories because of the accumulated effects of pollution causing problems for those with respiratory problems. I was standing at a bus stop earlier where a man was smoking and a women standing with her kid nearby was giving him glaring looks like she wanted to kill him. She stood there fanning the smoke away with her hat. Ideally, she could have just moved further down the sidewalk, but there were a lot of people waiting and they made a line waiting for the bus.

There was an article on the Wall Street Journal about it a few months ago: http://blogs.wsj.com...rget-bus-stops/

This state has gone to far with the anti-smoke laws and I understand banning smoking in parks where there is children is a good idea. When I smoke I tried to keep it away from children. In the beaches they should make a smoking section so no children and all the non-smokers don't have breath in it. Maybe I have thought about giving up smoking all together because before you know it they may ban smoking outside especially in the city I hear and on a hot day like the next few days it will pollute the air but smokers like myself should be considerate and never smoke around any children that will breath in second hand smoke.

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/...

MAIN STORY IS HEAT. HAVE ISSUED A HEAT ADVISORY FOR NYC AND MOST

OF NE NJ. HAVE LEANED TOWARDS THE WARMER GFS MOS NUMBERS WITH

CLASSIC HEAT EVENT TO OCCUR WITH WESTERLY FLOW. NEWARK WILL LIKELY

BE THE WINNER FOR HIGHEST TEMP. SEE CLIMATE SECTION BELOW FOR

DETAILS.

WITH A WELL MIXED ATMOSPHERE...EXPECTING DEW POINTS TO MIX OUT IN

THE AFTERNOONS. MAV NUMBERS APPEAR TO BEST CAPTURE THIS...BUT

STILL LOWERED A DEGREE OR TWO FROM THIS.

THUS...HEAT INDEX VALUES PEAK AT AROUND 100 BOTH DAYS.

ALSO WITH THE WESTERLY FLOW...HAVE PUSHED THE MID 90S ONTO MOST OF

LONG ISLAND AS LIMITED SEA BREEZE IMPACTS EXPECTED.

AS FOR CONVECTION...LOW CHANCE FOR MCS ACTIVITY THAT DOESN/T HAVE

MODEL SUPPORT I COULD FIND...THOUGH HAVE TO EXPECT AT LEAST THIN

CIRRUS (NOT IN GRIDS) FROM CANADIAN/GREAT LAKES CONVECTION.

DIURNAL LOCALLY DRIVEN CONVECTION POTENTIAL REMAINS ABOUT THE

SAME AS TODAY AND WAS AGAIN NOT INCLUDED IN FCST.

LOW POPS FOR PREFRONTAL TROUGH AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT THURSDAY EVENING.

HAZE INCLUDED ALL ZONES FOR DAYTIME PERIODS.

Music to my ears!

Down to 74.2 here in Monmouth with calm winds.

The urban corridor PHL-NYC still in the low 80s at this hour, and we haven't even gotten into the big heat yet. Anyone thinking 90 degree temps at midnight for EWR and LGA?

I remember 2002 when I believe LGA on one night was still 91 as of 1AM. It was a weekend night and I was out and I pretty much wanted to kill myself.

The word "oppressive" takes on a literal meaning in the subway.

Some stations are just brutal compared to others.

For Example Union Square and West 4th Street Stations are super hot thank to lots of trains for those stations and poor venting.

I get the pleasure of West 4th Street.....the only good thing for me is I grab whatever comes first to get me to Penn during PM rush hour when station is baking.

Summer in full force now.

These are the warmest stations I could find on the east coast right now:

New York, NY (LGA): 82

Key West, FL: 82

Newark, NJ: 81

Miami, FL: 81

Tampa, FL: 81

New York, NY (da Park): 80

And the PWS closest to me is still at 81.

You know we are in summer when the NYC area stations are at or higher than those in south FL at night.

Edit:

LMAO Chicago is kicking our as* though: Midway and O'Hare are at 84 and Gary is at 85 (of course they are all 1 hr behind).
