earthlight
ALERT: if you go to the beach, no matter what the air temperature, do not go in the water. people have died in waters of this temperature. just ask algreek. I repeat, do not go in the water. Actually don't even look at it. Actually, don't even put your AC on like nzucker. Live naturally and sleep with a house temperature of 90 F like the American Indians did when they first found this great land.
Isotherm
I fish mostly LI Sound. No sharks in here. Friends that shark fish in the ocean, see great whites very often in their chum slicks. Sometimes as close as 2 miles off the beach. Yeah, I believe it. Last summer I went to Cape Cod, and they had huge great whites literally coming right up to the shore eating seals. A-L-E-X
I blame earthlight directly for this heat and will be sending my AC bill to him. He has been wishing it upon us since January. Maybe earthlights AC will break and his pool will spring a leak so he can suffer. Idk about AC bills, mine are never really that high..... heating bills in the winter, on the other hand..... mine average between 700-100 a month during cold winters. How come more people don't b**ch about heating bills? lol

Isotherm
Only thing that could screw with our overnight temp forecasts is convection. For those 75-80 degree lows to occur, I'm banking on no precip. If we have a T-storm move through EWR, the low would be closer to 70-72.

Best just to roam around the house butt naked, and of course my house is the self proclaimed skinny dipping capital of the neighborhood. Well known in fact. Once you become an avid skinny dipper, you acquire a skill to block out your surroundings, eventually going it in broad daylight. The trick is to act like things are completely normal, and they're the weird one looking at you.

Maybe that same plane can torch some of the vegetation in Central park on its way out, so we can finally get them over 89.

Sundog
What does an article about a guy who drowned in 50 degree lake water have to do with heat and beaches? All I know is it doesn't hurt in reverse...well they did make us sign disclaimers. I went into an outdoor hot tub with friends when it was -8 outside. The steam was freezing instantly on the railing making it fun trying to get out afterward.

Despite hot weather, swiming in 60 degree or upper 50 water without a wet suit can be very dangerous.

Correct, what people sometimes don't understand that water temp in the 50s vs air temp in the 50s is a completely different deal. However, that's not to say that it's lethal in all cases-- you can train yourself to swim in water like that and people have survived for a long period of time (up to 4 hours) in absolutely frigid water even when their heart stopped beating. The case I'm referring to was actually a little kid.
