I think Wednesday and Thursdays lows will be higher. I'd say 72 and 74. But definitely think 4 90 degree days is a high possibility.

For the record..my forecast for the website has the following for Newark.

Tue: 65/90

Wed: 69/93

Thu: 72/98

Fri: 79/90

Anybody else want to take a stab at it?

Why does it seem like NYC's excessive heat criteria is hotter than Philly.

I've noticed that they love to put up the heat advisories down there; I've already seen a few go up this year...maybe they have the same criteria but it just gets hotter there? which could be true for daylight hours but the real danger is when nighttime lows remain at 80 or above, as the human body has no time to cool down (especially the old folks), and that happens far more often in NYC's heat island than in the Philly suburbs

It isn't

Heat Advisory

Issued when maximum daytime heat index values are forecast to reach 100 to 104°F for at least 2 consecutive hours. NOTE: There is an exception for New York City, where a Heat Advisory is issued when the heat index is forecast to reach 95 to 99°F for at least 2 consecutive days or 100 to 104°F for any length of time.

I think Wed and Thurs are the only days the city will see 90F or better although tomorrow may come very close and we may come very close to an official heat wave. Def think Newark and PHL see 3 days of 90s as they are usually warmer without the marine influences as is known.

I think the city will ultimately see three days of 90 F...Wed-Thu-Fri...you're probably underestimating the power of a westerly wind component and 20+ C 850 temps on those days. Look at the 10m wind direction..that will keep the seabreeze and marine influence at bay.

I love it when its that warm at night! Its the best fishing weather from a boat.

Cant wait!!

You ever see great whites roaming around? Personally I don't like the idea of being on a boat, especially a small one, in the middle of the night.

I fish mostly LI Sound. No sharks in here.

Friends that shark fish in the ocean, see great whites very often in their chum slicks. Sometimes as close as 2 miles off the beach.

The sharks off the south shore are basking sharks or blues or makos.... no great whites here. Bring on the three day heatwave. I agree with John..... don't underestimate the power of the westerly wind.... Friday could be the hottest of them all :devilsmiley: I'm psyched, this is like waiting for a 2 foot snowstorm at the end of the week! We should make a separate thread for every model run and someone should post the ensembles (ANT!) when they come out ;)

I'll bite....

Tue: 66/90

Wed: 71/95

If there's anyone that can approach 100F on Thursday, it's Newark tarmac.
