TheTrials
12z NAM thru Monday has fantastic weather for NYC. 72-77 highs, low humidity and crisp 55-62 lows at night. Looks to continue after that also. Perfect weather. First two weeks of the month look perfect. Perhaps the last two will be stormy and hot.

earthlight
We would still be torching if it weren't for the ridging that's building towards Greenland. It looks to be transient but for now it will keep the heat down. This is still a very warm pattern though..there will likely be another heat release once that ridge collapses..maybe by the middle of next week. earthlight
The longer range DGEX shows the beginning stages of this breakdown. Once the ridge over Greenland collapses and the troughiness over the Northwest Atlantic can slide east, the ridge over the Central US will pulse back up towards the East coast in a similar fashion to the past several days. The 2m temps are only in the 80's here but the heat ridge is still building east and would likely be a scorcher if it went out further.
earthlight
Holding you to that! J/K I did an edit, lol. I wish. My pool was already up to 73 degrees thanks to this weather the past few days. No heater, either. The winds are killing me today. I wouldn't mind 78 any sunny, but the 20mph winds can take a freaking hike.

earthlight
Its not good for John's bronzing and sipping martinis by his pool, though. I gotta admit, I absolutely loved sitting by the pool the past 5 days. Throwing a few back, chilling before & after work by the pool...it was so awesome. Obviously it's different in the city and when you don't have a pool. I understand why plenty of people here hate the heat. But I dont think there's anything better than sitting poolside with a cold beer and the Yankee game on in the hot sun. I can't complain though. The atmosphere finds a way of evening things out. Climo always comes back. So my 6 days of +15 or more departures are over--now those who enjoy this weather more than the heat can love it. Im not really complaining, either, I'd just rather it be a little less windy.

This is a bit too cool.. not really during the day, but I am bummed that it might be down in the lower 40's the next 2 nights.. Last night was awesome.. still in the 80's.. I can just hop outside with shorts on and not having to layer up. I don't like anything below 60 at night anymore this time of year.

I blame zucker.
pazzo83
I doubt it gets much below 60 in the city going forward. We might hit 57 or 58 tonight in the park, but it will be tough for midtown/downtown to get below 60. We only got down to 69 this AM with dewpoints in the mid 40s. Sometimes, it's hard for the air temperature to drop when you have a gusty wind, and dew points are falling rapidly. They'll drop more easily the next couple nights with clear skies, light winds, and steady dew points.
pazzo83
Just to note, the last time the park was below 60 was 8am on Monday, May 23.

We'll probably flirt with 80, so a > 20 degree drop overnight is pretty unlikely.
tornadojay
You have to "layer up" when it's under 60? yea... it's very sad.. I get cold quite easily.. I mean.. I don't need any massive layering in the 50's probably.. just long sleeve at least... in the 40's.. forget about it.. I get in a bad mood when temps are that low in June. I hate the feeling of being cold. I think the only thing that gets me through the winter months is nor'easter potentials.

tornadojay
Somebody give the GGEM some love..this rules! I'll give that some love.. I'm not giving the 12Z GFS any love.. It is way too cool. I don't think 850 temps go above 15C at all the entire forecast period. I'm sure it will keep changing, but right now, I don't like it.

Wicked awesome pool wx for late May, but now these 50 degree nights are going to make daytime swimming difficult as you said. I think this type of weather is beautiful - do I want it the whole summer? No. I'd rather warmth/humidity dominate probably due in large part to the pool and my proximity to the world renowned Jersey Shore. If I lived in the city or some place far away from the beach with no pool, I'd probably hope for 70s all summer long. No doubt doing any kind of physical activity outside yesterday was next to impossible. Upper 70s dews coupled with 93 degrees makes you sweat bullets within minutes. Today's weather is ideal for outdoor sports, biking, hiking, or just plain enjoying the wx.

Winds also very gusty here in the wind tunnel of central Monmouth...gusted to 30mph last hour.
