famartin
It's going to be a banner growing season dude, I'm seeing explosive growth too. I hope we have some dry searing heat for July and August No... God no. I HATED coming home to seeing so much brown... I see enough of that here in the desert. Let it rain continuously. BTW, if you want a crappy day-before Memorial Day... high here 52 today, low 34, with plenty of clouds and occasional showers. Blech... south of here in Ely they had over a half foot of snow today. I think I'd have much rather had that than this pathetic excuse for May 29th weather...

Probably not mutually exclusive of the epic tornado situation they've seen to the east in the plains. All those deep ULLs with cold air aloft. Will, is the former la nina responsible for all this anomalous weather? The effects have been lagging. The la nina is over but the pattern is the same lol. The la nina is over but the pattern is the same lol. Almost certainly the La Nina is the culprit, but some random "luck" too. We've had so much cold over the NW and into the inter mountain west and when that clashes with the La Nina-induced warmer air masses over the SE US, it produces a lot of severe wx. But you still need individual synoptics to help out.

JonClaw
I'm trading in 2 hours of sleep for this. It better be worth it. By the way, how does this affect NYC's chances for 90 degrees today?
BL03
no lightening or thunder here.... gusty winds and shots of heavy rain. Line wants to hold but nothing crazy so far. edit: it weakened last frame. still didnt expect this.

It's coming through early enough, that we should have plenty of time to recover. Btw, I had thunder, lighting, heavy rains the last few mins. Not much wind. Cyg
I too was woken up this morning by thunder; and in typical morning thunderstorm fashion, a CG struck maybe a few blocks away just to make sure that I didn't fall back asleep too quickly.

psv88
I was camping out upstate in Ferndale ny, up in sullivan county near Bethel Woods/Monticello for Phish concert. Thunderstorms blew threw at about 4:00 am and scared the **** out of us. Tent was under a tree, the lightning was blinding and thunder intense. Everyone in the campsite was scared ****less. I am currently on 2 hours of sleep since after the thunder ended, the animals on the farm we camped on woke up. But still was an awesome weekend and show. Found a sick shirt, for any grateful dead fans. Weather channel logo on front, in box it says "The weather report", on the back it lists all the days of the week and grateful dead songs about weather for each day. I obviously needed to get it
ict1523
I wonder if this is gonna be one of those summers where the Mid Atlantic torches and we get occasional bursts of heat up here. The difference between even Philly and NYC has been large on many days since April, wonder if its gonna be a pattern. Pretty strange for Baltimore to hit 99 while we stay in the mid 80s.
