The Dude
I've been watching for 10 minutes, and haven't seen a single standing structure, except for the heavily damaged hospital. This thing must have been a half-mile wide.

dan11295
Every other large building in the area besides the hospital is just gone. Looking at the street map on satellite its about 4000 ft N-S from 20th to 32nd streets. Heard both those roads mentioned in damage reports. What other medical facilities does Joplin have, Have doubts whether St. John has the capabities to handle a lot of injuries as they got hit directly. EDIT: very concerned about lack of significant warning time with this storm as well. They didnt have 20-30 minutes warning here...

mnchaser
Your humor almost makes it worth it, even if we miss all the storms, Bowme. The dead zone this season has been from the Quad Cities to Rockford and Milwaukee, including Chicago as well. Storms fire on all sides, but not in those places.
