Ed Lizard
Running a longer range mesoscale model initialized by the GFS beyond the range of the normal North American mesoscale seemed such a bold idea. They still run the model, http://www.emc.ncep.noaa.gov/mmb/mmbpll/dgexops.conus/ , but I haven't seen the DGEX mentioned in an AFD in probably well over a year? So, what went wrong with the DGEX? It has the worst track record in the history of models when it comes to winter storms.
