Master of Disaster
http://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?warnzone=MSZ002&warncounty=MSC093&firewxzone=MSZ002&local_place1=2+Miles+SW+Mount+Pleasant+MS&product1=Flash+Flood+Watch * THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING* THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION!* 4 TO 11 INCHES OF RAIN HAS ALREADY FALLEN ACROSS AREAS ALONG AND NORTH OF THE INTERSTATE 40 CORRIDOR. PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL PRODUCE AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN IN A WIDE SWATH ACROSS THE MID SOUTH...MAINLY ALONG AND NORTH OF THE INTERSTATE 40 CORRIDOR. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE. THERE IS A VERY HIGH LIKELIHOOD THAT THIS RAINFALL ON ALREADY SATURATED SOILS WILL PRODUCE ADDITIONAL FLASH FLOODING AND EXACERBATE ONGOING FLOODING. THIS IS EXPECTED TO SEVERELY IMPACT MUCH OF THE MID SOUTH WITH POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC FLOODING POSSIBLE. NUMEROUS ROAD CLOSURES DUE TO WASHED OUT OR FLOODED ROADWAYS...EVACUATION OF HOMES AND BUSINESSES NEAR RISING FLOOD WATER...AND RECORD HIGH RIVER CRESTS ARE POSSIBLE. AREAS THAT ARE NOT CONSIDERED PART OF A FLOOD PLAIN COULD ALSO FLOOD. Hands down the most chilling FFW I have ever read in my life and the only time I have ever seen a PDS one. Thoughts? Eskimo Joe
Yes, definitely warrants the PDS mention. I like the PDS in the watch products, and would like to see this expanded. But there must be a metric in place to ensure the public understands how dangerous the situation is to warrant a PDS watch.
tmagan
http://forecast.weat...ash+Flood+Watch Hands down the most chilling FFW I have ever read in my life and the only time I have ever seen a PDS one. Thoughts? About a ten days ago I mentioned something about a PDS flash flood watch, if only I can find it.
