I would bet we have at least 2 days where the sun comes out and we get 65-70ish..at least south of pike. Just way to much pessimism in some circles on here. Not that it's a nice week at all...just not nearly as miserable as some are locking

Its pretty bad when you are hoping one or two days out of the whole week have a couple breaks of sun and make it to 65F. Perhaps down in your area there's a better chance, but a large portion of E SNE, its tough to get optimistic on an E wind. E wind here usually sucks when LL moisture is abundant...you get land convergence first on the CP and then it rides up the E slopes of the hills.

Maybe it won't look as bad in a few days, but Euro has been insistent on a terrible week.

Scott, ....looks like we got our synoptic trigger... could be some flood with some totals approaching 10 inches on the anomlies products.

I think that might be more over NY State or perhaps down by PA/NJ area and higher elevations of the MA, but it's always tricky with these PWAT plumes. That ULL eventually has to lift on out of here, perhaps dumping more rains later this week.

Monday is an impossible call, I could see swamp~azz alerts with breaks in the clouds and a steamy feel to things with temps in the 70s, or we could be socked in with a light ese flow and temps around 60.

I think this week will feature lots of rain, but also some pleasant suprises, cutoffs are overrated.

Burbank tried to sound optomistic but he was really reaching for straws on this.

I don't think I've ever seen any forecasts that miserable/cloudy/dreary. Even during the June of '09 sunless stretch there was always some days that were suposed to be nice that would be 65F with a few breaks before sunset. The first day in the upper 70s in late June felt downright hot that summer. arrowheadsmiley.png

The models scared me enough to spend about three hours today cutting grass in hideous conditions. I had to get it cut before it turns into a total swamp again. Rained from like 2:00 to 6:30 PM here so I got kinda wet. :arrowhead:

You can see the 18z GFS lifts the warm front much further north on Monday than the 18z NAM...

18z GFS has the 10C line into Central VT/NH:

18z NAM keeps the 10C line near the Mass Pike:

I'm still not buying the really heavy rain for SW CT/SE NY, Joe; I think the highest totals will be focused just north of the warm front in Upstate NY and extreme NNE. For us, it's going to be mostly off and on showers, perhaps a thunderstorm, with some humidity, although we should get into some steadier rains as the ULL lifts out later in the week.

That was June though...it's only mid-May, so there's more potential for dreariness and chilly ESE breezes off the ocean. You're always going to get some warm days later in June when the average high is nearing 80F. I was away for June 2009, down in Chile, but I heard how awful it was from my parents. We were having the exact same weather in Southern Chile, heavy rain and overcast, except the winter version with temperatures in the 40s/50s instead of 50s/60s.

I would have thought we'd have had some rain overnight. Nothing's been recorded since the showers that came through at about 5:30 last night which dropped .10". Perhaps something's clogging my buckets. Hopefully this will be the signal that the heaviest rain this week will be somewhere other than mby (how my tune changes re: qpf when the p-type's not snow).

49.9/49, foggy.
