if ian dies during this chase can i have his admin position?

I thinks its a rule, residency in VA, MD or the District of Columbia to be an admin.

But that cash offer to AmWx for Ian in a tornado U-Tube, like Reed Timmer, only braver, still stands.

We're prob going to TX for some see text action.

I was just looking at some West Texas NAM soundings for the fire thread in the subforum. Now, the good news, is ground level is above 900 mb out there. The bad news, NAM LCLs are above 700 mb out there, and the FST T-Td spread was about 20 degrees. Celcius.

Might get some good lightning pics, and maybe be the first to call in a fire to the county sheriff.

Oh, I still have the sounding on my puter.

MAF AFD sounds exciting...

DISCUSSION...

A WEAK UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE MOVING ACROSS EXTREME SOUTHWEST

TEXAS WILL GENERATE ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND

THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS MAINLY WEST TEXAS TODAY. WITH DEWPOINT

DEPRESSIONS OF 40 TO 60 DEGREES DRY LIGHTNING AND VIRGA BOMBS

WILL BE A CONCERN THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY THIS EVENING. TEMPERATURES

WILL WARM TO ABOVE NORMAL THIS AFTERNOON AS A SURFACE LEE TROUGH

BECOMES ESTABLISHED. ANY CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY SHOULD DIE IN THE EVENING

WITH LOSS OF HEATING.

I have been to the oil lease behind this hill on Interstate 10 not too far from Bakersfield, TX. They had beautiful facilities, but the perm was all fracture related, and it would have been an awful waterflood candidate.

Still, it is the scenic highlight of I-10 East of Fort Stockton...

Still a See Text w/ 5% hail and wind probabilities. I can only guess what a 'virga bomb' is, but 40 or 50ºF dewpoint depressions and clouds based more than 10,000 AGL, there has to be a cool photo of blowing dust in there somewhere...

...WEST TX...

AN ARRAY OF STORM SCALE GUIDANCE CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE

DEVELOPMENT OF DEEP CONVECTION ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN TO THE WEST

OF PECOS/FORT STOCKTON LATER TODAY. DESPITE ONLY SUBTLE INDICATIONS

OF LARGE SCALE ASCENT ACROSS THE AREA...WEAK RETURN FLOW AND

DIFFERENTIAL HEATING MAY BE ADEQUATE FOR TSTM INITIATION IN WEAKLY

CAPPED AND INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE REGIME. ISOLATED LARGE HAIL AND/OR

A SVR WIND GUST APPEAR POSSIBLE FROM LATE AFTERNOON INTO EARLY

EVENING BEFORE CONDITIONS BECOME HOSTILE TO SUSTAINING TSTM

DEVELOPMENT IN THIS AREA.

Ed, please keep the thread more on-topic and concentrated with our chase stuff.

-----

We're on our way to the See Text area to get some thunderstorm structure and lightning shots. With luck we'll hopefully be in the storm action from 4-5pm until the sun sets.

The I-10 picture was a little gratuitous.

But all that forecast sounding stuff, the 650 mb cloud bases, 30 or 50 degree dewpoint depression, the dry lightning stuff, that was all for the benefit of the chasers.

The fire in the Davis Mountains is finally 100% contained, if they want some alpine t-storm action, and any increase in elevation increases the chance they actually see rain.

Most of them have been, and I suppose a thanks are in order to Ed for those posts. Thank you, Ed.

It was really just the few posts about things like the I-10 stuff that I'm not particularly fond of seeing ITT. We be in chase mode now :D

Yeah, I guess the best policy for the thread is to allow you and ian to have the monopoly on the posts that aren't about storms.

As Mick Jagger said in 1965:

.

"I said, Hey! You! Get off of my cloud

Hey! You! Get off of my cloud

Hey! You! Get off of my cloud

Don't hang around 'cause two's a crowd

On my cloud, baby.

Hey! You! Get off of my cloud

Don't hang around, baby, two's a crowd "

3 people in that car already if I read the thread title correctly.
