Isotherm
89.5 was the high here, so that's 90 in my book--- number 14! High of 93.0 here for number 16, really didn't feel that bad to me. SACRUS
High of 93.0 here for number 16, really didn't feel that bad to me. I guess I'm getting used to the heat, lol. The 100 degree days have adapted me. Must have been one of those days where we had a much wider range than usual. I made it up to 97. Looks like we'll tack on another today then less widespread 90s by Friday perhaps Saturday pending on clouds and storms before Sunday it looks like we'll all get there again. Isotherm
high of 92 / 90+ day number 15.... LOW HUMIDITY! And I had yet another annoying 89 degree high, 88.7 to be exact. Stuck at 16 days. How many did you finish with last summer? I recorded 38, 1 more than NYC. Based on the way the next couple weeks are looking, I'd be surprised if I made it to 25 for the total this season. Usually post August 20th, the chances for numerous 90F+ highs dwindle significantly. With the pattern not looking hot through week 2, I'm not optimistic for 90F+ days anywhere near the numbers of last summer.

Last summer I had 33, with 13 of those being 95+ days and 3 100+ days.... so many of those days were towards the high end, that's what was really impressive. We usually get a couple of 90 degree days into September, but very few and far between.

Stormlover74
While I'm not sure what the record stretch is I noticed EWR has failed to drop below 70 since July 16th (unless in between hours last night it appears the low was 70). They have a shot the next couple nights but have been generally staying a few degrees warmer than guidance so my guess is they won't. Last year they went 21 days in a row, so far they're at 19 at the moment

Last year they went 21 days in a row, so far they're at 19 at the moment Thru 1:51am, Newark's low was 70 degrees. And thru 7:51am, their low was 71. So unless they fell below 70 from 7:51am to 8:51am, they did not get below 70. JFK, NYC and LGA all fell below 70. 67 in NYC, 68 in both LGA and JFK. Stormlover74
Right, this has been a very localized phenomenon for just EWR, and looking back to 93, 95, 99 etc. I couldn't find a similar stretch (95 came close but they managed one night in the upper 60s). It also hasn't dropped below 65 since mid June. Thru 1:51am, Newark's low was 70 degrees. And thru 7:51am, their low was 71. So unless they fell below 70 from 7:51am to 8:51am, they did not get below 70. JFK, NYC and LGA all fell below 70. 67 in NYC, 68 in both LGA and JFK. A-L-E-X
Let's see if EWR can beat their extremes from 1993-94.... I believe they reached 105 in July 1993 and dropped to -8 in Jan 1994 (they radiate well.)

Call for summer EWR: 30 NYC: 20 My guess would be very similar Tony. But just to make it interesting, I'll go: EWR: 26 NYC: 17 I suspect we'll have numerous mid/upper 80s and very humid days throughout the summer, probably a lot of near misses for many. Those type of borderline 85-90 days are when Newark can really pull away from the pack so to speak, in terms of 90F days. As I said before, I think overall the high humidity and elevated night time minima will be more impressive than big day time heat this summer
