weatherwiz
Wiz in our thread! You know it's rockin. I'm really intrigued on what's occurring further to the north in portions of south-central NY, environment there is not nearly as favorable as it is across PA and places further south into the mid-Atlantic. Already a reported tornado in NY not too long ago and tornado warnings continue to fly in NY. I would think we see that STW get upgraded to a TW sometime very, very soon. weatherwiz
I may be wrong on this but I do not recall the models depicting these ML lapse rates...I think I saw generally 6-6.5 C/KM but these are up at 7-7.5 C/KM...they were as high as 8-8.5 C/KM in some spots a bit earlier! Kmlwx
That storm looks like a monster on LWX radar (it's far away from the site, however). Look at the echo tops on it!
Jebman
This is one hell of an event. If we can get this much action at 2:50am in April what can we do in May at 5pm? This is going to be one of the very WORST severe weather seasons ever recorded. THIS system is extremely bad - wiz is in our thread - he only does that when indices are particularly supportive of bad weather.

Jebman
We may luck out in N VA after all - radar echoes over VA appear to be weaker than in PA as of 351am. This is one system I would prefer to have weaken a LOT over N VA. I sure don't want to end up like Tuscaloosa.

Jebman
The stronger elements in Pennsylvania are likely sparing north and central Virginia from severe weather overnight. We've all seen how convection to the south can rob areas to the north of snow during a winter storm. It is looking more and more as if the Pennsylvania convection and markedly stronger elements are robbing us in north and central VA of potentially deadly severe weather. We may yet manage to squeak by. GA/SC and eastern West VA/Central MD/PA/NY are likely going to get annihilated overnight.

Up til now, just heavy rain. No wind, no hail. I'm just on the western edge of that latest warning, north of Winchester. That radar sig sure looked ominous as that cell approached Winchester. I wonder what it is like just to the east of 81.
