The storms over NJ are garden variety heavy showers in a crappy mid atmospheric environment for storms...we're gonna have to wait a few hours at least to get the good stuff. We may have to rely on elevated instability tonight to try and get some good non rooted stuff in here. Certainly a good sign that the sun is out here.

Local OBS have the sea breeze well depicted...it's 81 here now in Western Union Co...and 71 at EWR with an East wind.

Winds must have shifted some here in the city. We were up to about 74/75, dropped back down to 70 around noon, and now we are back up to 74.

Nice and humid too!

On the issue of tomorrow: what more can be said than what the local WFO and SPC have already said? Until we realize in full what goes down this evening west of the Appalachians and how that will affect things, we can only simply say, "yeah, damaging wind threat."

Any immediate backing of the winds during the FROPA or sunshine will increase tomorrow's tornado threat substantially.

That cell about to cross over the DE memorial bridge looks rather healthy. New special weather statement out for that region.

Yeah you know, looking at the vad winds, there is definitely a bit of turning with 40-50 kt low-mid level flow. Not bad at all...only if that cold pocket was over it.
