Guest Patrick
Since we are plunging from the refrigerator into the freezer next week, any backlash snow that we do pickup should leave a little white stuff on the ground for quite awhile. =) there are always snow threats on the models 10+ days out . i agree... very cold with brown is very depressing. lets hope we can squeeze out a little backlash with this coming storm. 20.5f at 6:30am. Grothar
and would you frickin believe it is snowing just north of Jackson Ms this morning and into Alabama? Sounds like last year all over again. Snows in Seattle, now the deep south. Watch out Georgia and or northern Florida --- you are next. Meanwhile, we cannot squeeze out a decent snow squall from the snow capital of the country, Buffalo. Well, its on to January because it appears that we are fighting to squeeze snow out of a rain infested cold front and low pressure system that seems not to want to find itself at this time.. Thunder Road
Yeah you guys did better on the 12/19-20 event in '08 than we did...IIRC it was ice to rain or something like that around here. Philly ended up with a T from that storm....lots of T events during the month. http://www.weather.g...-12-31+11:11:11 Was supposed to be 1-3" of snow then rain IIRC. Ended up all rain with a little ice to start. I remember State College having 3-7" in their grids for Lancaster County while the next grid east was around 1"

All you'll be left with is snow in shady locations. Not worth it.

RutgersWx92
Um, no. Wasted cold is depressing, especially if it comes with warm Lake Cutters in between. I'm not a fan of cold weather, but it's easier to deal with if there are SNOW THREATS to track. Well I guess this is the difference between us; I enjoy the cold weather during the winter. I don't like it when cold is wasted either (and yes, cold and dry and warm and wet is extremely frustrating), but it's still better than a blowtorch winter like 01-02 IMO. SnoSki14
I'm already getting tired of the cold, it felt so cold today and I hate waking up to the cold weather. Having snow and cold is a lot better to deal with because it creates this relaxing ambiance that I enjoy. Having the strong winds blowing cold air on me with everything brown outside is a little depressing. I can't imagine how next week is going to be with wind chills possibly up to 20 degrees colder than the past few days.

Yes, but I still love the cold. Feels very refreshing.
SnoSki14
Despite the cold after December 1st, we're still near normal for the month so far as of 12/7. Although it's pretty obvious that as of today and into tomorrow, we'll easily be into the negatives. I think the warmer lows are the reason why we haven't seen big departures as of the past week. The more inland areas that did radiate see lower lows and thus have more negative departures. http://www.hprcc.unl.edu/maps/current/index.php?action=update_daterange&daterange=7d#

That should change over the next couple of nights, however, and definitely by next week. Teens for lows are looking pretty likely.

Big Jims Videos
Just had a decent little burst of snow...coated everything except the roads. Temp is 19.3. It's amazing how much more snow you guys get in Hazleton and Freeland-- I was in Freeland on Monday doing a story and it was truly the FARGO of PA-- like 2 inches of wind-driven snow, temps around 20, wind gusts to like 30-40 mph. Got back to Pittston it was in the low 30s, much calmer winds, and oh, look in the street light, is that a flurry?
