Stevo6899
Spoke to soon about the rain. Latest Nam has us in the bullseye for 1-2 inches of rain today. Would've been some good deformation snows today.
cyclone77
Expecting mid 30s and patchy frost tonight. Just last week it was humid and in the lower 70s when I left for work early in the morning. Amazing turnaround.

Hoosier
It's 42 at ORD right now. If it weren't for the overnight high of 46, the record low max of 44 (1904) would be in jeopardy.

Chicago WX
Off topic, but has anyone seen Daddylonglegs or ChicagoWX on here lately. I can't remember the last time I saw them post. I'm still alive, but thanks for the "wellness" check. ChicagoWX doesn't post much in the summer. He is truly a winter guy. I'm sure that he's on the golf course as we speak. I'm hoping to get some boomers or at least heavy rain later this afternoon. Believe it or not I've played one round of golf this Spring. The wet April plus work kicking my butt equals little to no golf. Maybe I'll get some time by July...unless it's too hot by then.

hawkeye_wx
Over two days my rain total was a respectable 0.73". At least this time it was just one nasty, cold day in the 40s. This afternoon the sun is out and the temp is near 60. It's windy, but feels nice. 70s still look good later this week.

Of course it's no surprise...but most of Chicago's record low maxes during the month of May occurred when the official site was near the lakefront. Since the official climo site moved away from the lakefront in 1942 (first to MDW then ORD), today's 46F (assuming it holds) is the 2nd lowest high temp so late in the season. The only lower high temp so late in the season was 45F on 5/17/2002. Hnorable mention: high of 48F on 5/26/1961. Very impressive. Normal high for today is 70F. Talk about not being able to grow crops! Its very rugged terrain..White Pines and Evergreen trees rule making for extremely acidic soils. Not much in the way of planting goes on up there..Even cherry trees are hard to grow in the UP. I have friends who live in the UP and every Summer they are in awe of my basic garden because even growing a Tomato plant is a challenge for ooppers. buckeye
just checking in to say I cannot recall a more dismal spring in my 45 years. Just horrible....depressing...nasty. Also, I'm with ya Chicago Wx, I have yet to play a single round of golf between work being so crazy and the wx being so horrible. Can't help to wonder if the other shoe is gonna come slamming down and we move into brutal heat and dry soon.

BowMeHunter
46 out but at least there is a cloud free sky La Crosse - 64° and the NW tit of MN - 72° are the places to be today. Almost all of ohio stuck in the 40's - wow. Nice and gradual warmup to the AC weather coming. Hopefully this is the last of the silly cold temps until fall..even I've had enough of this nonsense. Really? Kinda strange: just last week you were complaining about the heat; now you're sick of the cold? Make up your mind. I personally want 70s and lower 80s to start coming in abundance, along with chances for severe weather.
dmc76
Fixed "T-Storms" are awesome not 45 degree weather clouds and steady rain . Especially when your in road work/outdoor construction. Were so backed up its actually getting a little nerve wrecking. If im blogging at 457pm on a Monday in the middle of May usually means im in a stand still BTW: mid 40's all day with off an on light rain showers=annoying
