SuperNET
I've seen this setup plenty of times here in the southeast, storm comes up the coast, cold air in place = SNOW ! It's that simple, I don't need models to tell me that, which is just a machine anyways. To many people put their faith in those things, not me, I'll take the human way. Good grief..... Just make sure it's not any new math or something like that......

DCMetroWinston
Some people foresaw that December would possibly be cold, but did anyone foresee it would be this brutally cold for so much of the country?

I know that, I mean forecasting, I love it for radar and watching the storm, the models are great for that.
eyewall
I posted my thoughts on the 18z GFS compared to 12z as far as phasing for the weekend event on pg 22 of the December 14th and onward thread. It will be interesting to see how this evolves.

I keep saying the La Nina will be overpowered by the volcano's that erupted this year around the world and low sunspots. The entire winter will be like Dec. . WeatherNC
27/3 here in Pitt County, NW wind at 17, gusting to 28 at the airport, yielding a windchill solidly in the teens. 18z GFS MOS data showed a dp of 12 at 10pm, and it is already down to 3. Watching some MNF by the fire!
NCSNOW
Some people foresaw that December would possibly be cold, but did anyone foresee it would be this brutally cold for so much of the country? Historic, all time coldest December when the record books close off 12/31/2010 at my closest airport PTI(Greensboro) and most likely for everyone else on this forum. Loving the way this winter is unfolding -NAO is keeping it cold. If we get just a tad-bit of help from the STJ over the next 10 weeks of winter, then it's going to be a winter to remember for a long time. jrips27
I think single digits are a bit out of reach here. Maybe we will have a wind chill below 0 in the morning? Now for the 0z GFS...
NEGa
Single digits here we come. Down to 14.4 already. Brrrr...... I am surprised with the temp considering the winds are still up there. Not expecting singe digits, will probably stop at 10.1 or so lol. I wouldn't be surprised to get to the single digits if the temp keeps going down another couple of hours It is unbelievably cold
Marion_NC_WX
16.9 degrees...I have felt all along that we would challenge single digits for Tuesday Morning and that hasn't changed IMO. Got a 2-hour delay in school tomorrow, that's going to be brutal at the bus stop with the wind blowing.
