Thanks...glad to hear you don't think there will be a torch. The one I seem to remember the most was allan's. I think he had us like plus 4 or 5 for the month. (Again, Allan If I am mistaken, I apologize). And I seem to remember a lot of maps with above to much above normal temps here for december. But again I just quickly glanced over them so maybe I'm wrong.

Even though I'm snowless/and freezing rainless, Color me pleasantly surprised regardless since I don't recall a single december forecast that wasn't above average here. At any rate, HKY pointed out the much above sst's near greenland recently so I'm hoping that keeps the -nao going.

Looks like the blob of best moisture/precip is going south of me but Looking outside it's Interesting to note the bank of low level moisture in the form of altocumulus/stratocumulus coming this way. Maybe that will be enough to allow a few tiny flakes to reach the surface here. I've enjoyed the appearance of the clouds today.

Weather NC can confirm........ I post a NC winter outlook every October on another board and I had Dec as our coldest month at negative 1.5 degrees with normal snowfall. This may indeed be too warm if the extreme solutions verify for later this month.

KILM

NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...

AS OF 5 PM WEDNESDAY...WE HAVE UPDATED THE FORECAST TO INCLUDE SNOW

FLURRY POTENTIAL TONIGHT SOUTH OF A LINE FROM DARLINGTON AND

FLORENCE TO MARION AND MYRTLE BEACH. AN ENERGETIC UPPER DISTURBANCE

HAS MEAGER MOISTURE TO WORK WITH BUT IS DOING AN IMPRESSIVE JOB

CREATING RADAR ECHOES DESPITE ALL THE DRY AIR IN THE LOWEST

7000-12000 FT OF THE ATMOSPHERE. RECENT REPORTS OF SNOW AND SNOW

FLURRIES IN EASTERN GEORGIA GIVE SOME CONFIDENCE TO THIS UPDATED

FORECAST. RADAR ECHOES WILL PROBABLY EXTEND SOME DISTANCE NORTH OF

THE LINE WE HAVE DELINEATED IN OUR FORECAST...BUT THE DEPTH OF THE

DRY AIR BELOW THE MID-CLOUD BASE INCREASES WITH LATITUDE AND WILL

BECOME PROHIBITIVE FOR FLAKES TO REACH THE GROUND. WE WILL CONTINUE

TO CLOSELY MONITOR THIS SITUATION GIVEN HOW POORLY THE MODELS

RESOLVED THIS SCENARIO JUST 24 HOURS AGO.

When moving here nearly 3 years ago, my number one goal was to see snow on the beach/palms...got my wish last year with 4". Quite an amazing sight in a surreal sort of way.

Damn...it'd be cool to be on the beach with flakes flying.

I'm in a small dry slot here downtown, virtually everywhere around downtown is reporting snow. Echoes are still strong to the north and west, I hope they stay strong and trek eastward over downtown.

That's awesome. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif I had a couple sleet pellets and nothing more.

That was definitely quite a storm. I was in the relative minimum for NC as far season snow totals even compared to coastal areas because of that event. We still had a 3 inches out of it though.
