burrel2
I met up with some friends for dinner in Greenville, SC and they showed me pictures of legitimate tennis ball sized hail that had just fallen east of town. Dented their cars up pretty bad. I'll post the pics as soon as then send them to my phone.

jshetley
Bristol getting hit hard as we speak...probably 60+ mph winds...plenty of lightning as well. That's certainly nasty and dropping to the south and southeast quickly. I have my doubts that it makes it here into SC, but you should see this reach you in the Marion area or at least see lots of lightning from them before too much longer. Marion_NC_WX
What I just witnessed was amazing...we had about a 1 minute span where this squall gusted out, had to be 70 mph or more as it slammed the northern end of my house. Limbs and debris all over my yard... The wind was over in about 3 or 4 minutes, never lost power somehow...heavy rain and constant lightning currently going on. Blue_Ridge_Escarpment
I agree Dan, that was something else for a solid 5 minutes the wind was at least 60+mph as you said. Already getting reports of power out in Marion along US 70 west near Wal-Mart to downtown with Duke Energy customers. Still rumbling and constant flashing here as well. calculus1
Incredible amounts of lightning all around my house. I'm in the interior of that V that Foothills mentioned. Northwest MCC approaching here usually are very bad news, and this one looks particularly bad, gaining momentum, not dying. The big leaning maple on the north side of the house has me worried right now. Keep the reports coming, please..i'll be up until this is over. Gastonwxman
New severe thunderstorm warning issued: * Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... southwestern Alexander County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... western Cabarrus County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... Catawba County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... southeastern Cleveland County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... Gaston County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... southern Iredell County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... Lincoln County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... Mecklenburg County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... southwestern Rowan County in the Piedmont of North Carolina... northeastern York County in upstate South Carolina... southeastern Caldwell County in western North Carolina... east central Burke County in western North Carolina... * until 100 am EDT * at 1151 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter size hail... and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. These storms were located along a line extending from Hildebran to Claremont to 3 miles north of Davidson... or along a line extending from 5 miles west of Hickory to 6 miles northeast of Newton to 17 miles northwest of Concord... moving southeast at 40 mph. This line of severe thunderstorms is capable of producing wind speeds of 60 to 75 mph. These winds can topple trees and power lines. Seek shelter on the lowest level of your home or office building. Avoid rooms that may be damaged by falling trees. If driving... pull over in a clear area away from large trees and power poles. That especially applies to me considering my pine tree that's been leaning over toward my house recently. Praying that it holds up against any strong winds that may accompany these storms.
