TVS on the same storm now moving southward around Rutherford/Cleveland county. Also down into extreme southeastern NC where the first severe thunderstorm actually popped, there is a significant severe thunderstorm down that way around Myrtle Beach with another TVS and 3.5" hail. Much stronger than the one I've posted below.

Well we are trying to chase the storm that got SVR warned that's moving into Cleveland County... looking for a good gas station just outside of Shelby to take shelter.

Need to head west of Shelby unless you wanna get cored......prolly some decent hail but if there is a lowering or funnel you will be on the wrong side of the storm to see it ( unless it hits you lol)

Yea... we aren't looking for a tornado... rotation is very weak in the low levels as expected since the low level shear really isn't sufficient to allowing the mesocyclone to be low enough for tornadogenesis. We are just trying to catch some hail... we are under the roof of a Gas station, so we have some shelter.

Cool then you should be ok its a kinda of a strung out mess, good luck have the camera ready the hail core is showing .75" and should cross just west of Shelby.

Sure hope this isnt a sign of how the rest of summer will be. If it is the western carolinas will be very hot and dry just like the Texas area. Cap doing it's job of keeping the storms from organizing and being able to last over about 1.5 hours. Only a very few spots see rain. With where the drought is and how I think the big ridge sets up, it's going to be 1980 again unless something changes fast.

video I shot on drive home from work

dont make fun of my crappy iphone vid, I was driving about 70 on interstate, i know dumb. was shooting it out the drivers window.

another storm about to come thru

Wow...you were in a great position...right there under the hook. I was starting to have flashbacks of the 2001 tornado when that cell started crusing south along the sea breeze.

Currently, most of the t-storm activity seems to be staying to the north of where it was predicted. Lots of activity now showing up on radar north of the Greensboro, NC, area along the NC/VA border. There's another heavy batch of storms in SE KY that does appear to be heading more toward NW NC. It probably won't make it to my area (if it holds together) until after I'm in bed. Maybe I'll be woken up by thunder?
