i guess this?

WIND DAMAGE WITH THIS STORM WILL OCCUR WELL AHEAD OF ANY RAIN...

THUNDER OR LIGHTNING. TAKE COVER NOW. DO NOT WAIT FOR THE SOUND OF

THUNDER BEFORE SEEKING SHELTER. GO INSIDE A STURDY STRUCTURE AND STAY

AWAY FROM WINDOWS.

Storm wasn't where they said it was at 11:27. Storm didn't touch Guilford or Randolph. Other than that a nice job. axesmiley.png

Was certainly true enough here. Very high winds before I heard any thunder at all. Winds probably up to 70mph here around 9pm.

Picked up .23 last night :weight_lift:

Looks like tha t line developing to your west may get you, def. will to your north I think. Had .64" so far, and expecting more with the next line. All the storms have hit at night here this season...makes it hard to see the effects of the winds.

Got hammered last night. Had two rounds of storms both with some intense winds, though the second round was the strongest. Had some minor tree damage around the area with a few large branches down. The second also produced some pea sized hail before the winds really got going. The lightning the second line produce was very frequent and we had several relatively close strikes. We lost power during the second storm and did not get it back on for an hour and a half.

Quite amazing that we got a new puppy a few days ago and all of this didn't even scare her. She seemed more interested in biting at my shoe laces. :P

That line is trying to build a little to the south, it will be close, but it looks to pass just to my north..lol It was nice to see those that have missed out on a couple of chances recently cash in  At the very least, I'm enjoying the clouds today before the heat sets in :sun::(

the models have good coverage in the Carolinas today, esp. central, so there's more chances. Then chances shift to GA and central Alabama tomorrow more, before finally having just an APPS chance the next few days. GFS has daily coverage over n. GA, west NC and east TN til Tuesday, then Wednesday night a front may come through or MCC which would favor NC/VA.

Wish we could get some rain here in eastern NC, east of I-95. Things are getting very bad here quickly and no let up in sight it would seem.

The GFS has the front and a good band, maybe an MCC coming through your area Wed. night. Its usually pretty good about this, so if you don't get hit today or tomorrow, thats your best chance. Wish your area could get hit today, it may happen. I know how rotten it is to miss out , esp. as long as you have been.

My sis and eight year old nephew, who live in Atlanta (Buckhead), were lucky to not get hurt as a large tree fell on their family room just as they were leaving the house. Damage to that room was significant and it was a very scarey moment. Thank goodness they're ok. This spring has been terrible in general in terms of lost lives, injuries, and destruction. Enough is enough!

Very glad they are ok, Larry! Those old trees in Buckhead just can't stand all the years of on and off abuse, and every time there is a big wind some go over. When I lived up there it seemed like every big storm took some down.

I'm with you on there having been way more than enough of this. Nature tends to make up for slack years with years like this, unfortuantely. I guess next will be winter tornados. Haven't had any of those in a while. T

Getting another nice round of thunderstorms now. Just steady rain and rumbles of thunder, looks like more building just behind this. Some pretty close strikes again. I've already had way , way many more thunderstorms in the last 2 months than I did all of last Spring, Summer and Fall. Pretty amazing.

Got a call from a friend of mine last night. Apparently during the tornado warning that was prompted for Gaston county, a large tree fell on top of his house. Scared the daylights out of him and his family. Luckily they can make the repairs and cut the tree up efficiently.

Looks like another band of heavy rain and storms is heading my way and should be here in a few.

I picked up 0.83, though the radar says I should have gotten 2+. This isn't the first time this has happened lately. I'm wondering if my digital gauge is malfunctioning. I may need to put out a traditional gauge alongside to check its accuracy next time it rains.

Get a CoCoRaHS gauge, they're about $30 from the CoCoRaHS site. http://www.cocorahs.org/ Then you can start reporting your rain totals!
