Thank you. I live in north central Georgia. Gilmer County to be exact.

Yeah, we haven't had any severe weather (here anyway) since the April 27th event. I feel like we may get something the end of this week, but who knows how severe.

Welcome to the board Christine. It's always nice to have another north Ga poster. Our Ga contingent has really grown over the last two years and it's been great. Don't be shy about posting as we have a terrific and respectful group, as you probably already know.

I really haven't looked very closely at that time period but I wish we could get something, as it's been very dry here for quite some time. But I guess we shouldn't really complain as we have had a hell of a winter/early spring. But rain is desperately needed here, grass is dead and lake levels/stream levels are dropping fast...especially with the increased heat.

This is sort of a question / observation:

To my recolection I can not remember the SE having a severe wx outbreak of signifigant proportions and then weeks later or weeks sooner the midwest got a double dose? Maybe Larry or Robert can recall, but is it safe to say that this winter / spring has been an over acheiver in terms of extremes? I personally believe the answer is yes, but I am interested to hear what the other lovers of extremes think.

I see that this hurricane season is expected to be dynamic as well. I am not crazy about that though, because any storm that gets in the gulf stands a really good chance of reaking havoc on the gas prices.

As to this weather being boring, while it may be boring presently, I burned up more band width this winter and this spring than I can ever remember. It has been one awesome show on mother nature's part, so no way am I going to complain.

I've had less than nothing for so long now, I have to turn on the hose to remember what falling water looks like. I hate to think it takes tornado weather to get some rain around here. We are having a bumper crop of heat though. But I'd gladly trade two weeks worth of heat for 10 minutes of rain. Here's hoping for some major soaking T.S.'s to come up over us this summer. Tony

I'm gonna get greedy, give me an Opal type storm this summer with inland hurricane force winds. I had sustained winds of 65mph here in Marietta during Opal. One of the more intense storms I've ever been in. I only wish for it to happen again.

Welcome!!! Always good to get another GA poster! As NEGa alluded to you picked a rather boring time to come and join lol. I wouldn't mind a few days of just a steady heavy rain.

New member here! I have been lurking on here since November. I am located 15 miles northeast of Greensboro, NC. Just hot and humid here. Watched a cluster of T-Storms move along the NC-VA line. Hope to chat with everyone and watch this non-stop historic year keep on going. I am currently a junior in college majoring in Environmental Studies. and a member of the Northcarolina National Guard. :)

I think the one I'll always remember for impact was T.S. then T.D. Alberto. It wandered around the deep south for days dropping huge amounts of rain...around 20 inches in a few days. Couldn't breathe outside because you needed gills. The two foot spillway wall at the reservoir was shooting a roostertail 70 to 100 feet in the air. Amazing storm. T

Once again, Wilkes county gets in on the T-storm activity first in NC. Don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing for a tornado, but it is amazing how day after day, the storms roll off the eastern escarpment into Wilkes county (just one county to the north). Stay safe up there, but send us some of your rain!

Current obs: 89.7 temp over 66 DP

GFS and Euro still at some odds with each other in the medium range...

12z GFS continues to plant a huge ridge right over the heart of the southeast bringing some big time heat for next week.

Meanwhile the 12z EURO develops a nice 850mb/500mb low over Florida and it heads across the Gulf of Mexico. This provides a strong east flow for Florida and the Southeast coastline.

It looks like the ECM has finally completely caved into the GFS idea of a big heatwave coming to the East and Apps/MidAtlantic. The GFS has had this idea all along, except maybe 1 run, where the ECMWF had a huge 5 contour deep cutoff, smack dab in the middle of where the core of the heat wave should be. This so far doesn't look like it will be quite as bad as the 2 major ones from last Summer or the one the year before, not yet , but briefly heights get to 594 near eastern Ky and Ohio. This would maximize downslope heating in the Midatlantic and into eastern NC on a couple of days with temps pushing upper 90's maybe near 100 in eastern VA or DC region closest to the core of the heat ridge. Also, deep easterlies will develop for SC and GA region, which usually helps push Atlantic moisture west and may help to build late day cooling storms around the Savannah R. Valley and into NE GA and southwest NC mountain regions with help from orographic lift. Otherwise, the rest of us will bake under high heat, and most will have high dewpoints, except both models paint lower dewpoints in central to southern GA and southern Alabama for a few days, maybe daily mixing down into the 50's on dewpoints, so that wouldn't be so bad down there on heat indicies. Also a weak ULL may develop near southern Fl and work west into the Gulf, so eventually that may be something to watch. I'm sure Texas would welcome it's rain if it developed. The good news is it doesn't last too long, the ridge should work back west by late week with a possible back door type front later on. As with any Summer storm, there will be a few lucky folks who get a storm that can break the cap, and get a tremendous gully washer or super-cell to develop over their area, and since PW's are going to be high and steering winds weak, it would be a welcome gullywasher type rainstorm, but again just localized.
