Dsnowx53
Can someone explain to me what exactly a debris ball is? I know how to identify them (well, they're pretty easy to spot), but I don't understand what exactly they are. Thanks.

nwohweather
For Ohio I will say a very similar dynamic setup to the November 10, 2002 setup. Very similar
JoMo
Can someone explain to me what exactly a debris ball is? I know how to identify them (well, they're pretty easy to spot), but I don't understand what exactly they are. Thanks. Radar deflecting off of debris aloft. It's typically an area of extremely high reflectivity located near the hook. (mostly on the south side)

I know how to identify them (well, they're pretty easy to spot), but I don't understand what exactly they are. Thanks. The radar beams bounce off of rain drops and the reflectivity shows on the radar. The same thing happens when there's debris, it's the radar beam bouncing off of that. OceanStWx
I want to reiterate that the coverage out of ABC 33/40 today has been outstanding, and their message has probably saved many lives. I especially like (and appreciate) how Spann reiterated not to trust any storm today. That if any thunder was headed your way to take cover, not just the tornado warned ones. sojitodd
Tuscaloosa...extreme damage... http://yfrog.com/h8q91wvj The pics and video from that remind me so much of the Andover tornado as it left that AFB. Just very violent and very similar looking.
