No I just have little patience for people getting overly defensive about "their snow" and then talking down to others like they are royalty...its what promotes petty regionalism. There will be none of that in this sub forum.

To avoid this dilemma start an elevation thread like our upslope thread then you won't become impatient. :snowman::bike:

I started a Wilmington thread but it got deleted, pretty soon Wiz will have his IMY thread, this place is getting pretty ridiculous.

Maybe we should go back to the 2000 post threads that combined weather analysis with how many spiders wiz saw today in his room. I hate to see people keep on harping over the fact that we are actually trying to organize the board a little more...nobody is forcing anyone to post here.

I think some of us have just about had it with the vaunted negative NAO over the course of the past year or so; send that bi*** + and get me some SWF lovn'.

Could not agree more violently. Might be different players on the field this year but we are still loosing the game. That block has got to go. Its screwing everyone sans eastern Maine. Even they might have marine air intrusion. Just hope for some white stuff for Christmas. Fingers crossed.

I think we'll be fine eventually.

If that was so ridiculous then why were those guys in favor of it.

I was actually going to delete it until they said they wanted to keep it...it makes sense because its a different meteorological phenomenon. It can be an interesting discussion point.

But we're not going to break up the region into like 5 or 6 different areas just by geography...that is silly. At some point common sense kicks in.

Sounds like " elevation envy " on some folks part if you ask me.

I don't think it was absured to distinguish between upslope\lake effect phenomena and synoptic snow; should we lump T-storms and cane threads together.....after all, there are plenty of T-storms in canes.

Do I get jealous when elevations get nailed and I miss out...yes.

Right, and that is the point.....feel free to discuss synoptic snows in ME next week within these threads.

Ray...I was being facetious.

I think things have been working great with the new system. An upslope thread is great... a generic synoptic threat like this one is good too... also today's obs thread was also good.

For the most part everyone seems to be doing a good job.

I think people need to read the thread title a bit more before posting. This isn't singling out anyone in particular, but we have the sub forums so we can be a little bit more liberal with separate topics. This thread is about the upcoming 7-10 day period for any storm threats.

If someone wants to talk about temperature departures, there is a thread for that. I think people just need to get a feel for the different threads. Yes, I know its extremely laborious to make an extra mouse click with the right index finger....but it helps people find what they want to read rather than digging through 37 pages of banter if they have been at work all day and haven't checked in. It also makes it a bit easier for us to find our own posts on certain topics if we want to go back and grab a quote or get an image we posted.

At the same time, we don't need a thread for every little thing either. That's where the common sense kicks in. I hope this makes sense to most.

Yeah that totally made sense... and I agree with Will that there can be a more organized discussion regarding the subject in a separate thread, especially when there are different factors than during a synoptic event. Its also always just one general geographical area, whereas a synoptic storm could strike anywhere. I'm sure when there is a good shot at some OES there will be a separate thread dedicated to that phenomenon, too.

A thread like this which is fairly broad in scope is probably ok with a bit of banter and more generic discussion about temps and stuff. Once a true threat emerges (like Dec 5/6 maybe) then we'll start a more specific thread. Going to be hard to get a real feel for it until we get a solid threat.

Well, you're right......I do get jealous when Pete gets 30" and I get 3" of rain; I'm just being honest.

Who would not be, Everyone wants snow, Its just a fact, If we did not there would not be much reason to live up here in the winter, I would move south or sw...........
