uncle W
that was the most boring KU i've experienced i thought even jan 05 was better when I lived in the Westerleigh part of Staten Island ( a few miles se of the Bayonne Bridge ) we got around 14-15" from the PDII storm...It was a nice storm but we were on the low side of totals...Jan. 2005 was another good storm and we got what most other places received... RU848789
Well, I'm right on the absolute edge of your map (in fact, I think I'm slightly off this year's but definitely on last year's, as they have different southern termination lines). Anyway, here in Metuchen, about 6 miles NE of New Brunswick and 8 miles SW of Rahway, along Route 1, we had 63.5" this winter and 59.5" last year. My records for the previous couple of years are at work - not sure if you're looking for anything other than this year.

Was it really a long duration storm though? I remember most of the snowfall occurred in like a 12 hour time period, between 6 PM and sunrise the next morning. How much snow did we have from 6 AM onwards the next day? I had a 28 inch total in like 16 hours.

A-L-E-X
Our area received that much snow? I thought we received around 18 or 19 inches. PD2? JFK measured 26 inches and the usually conservative noreaster measured 28 inches. JFK had almost 10 more inches than NYC that winter. I didnt find Jan 2005 too terribly exciting here.... pretty run of the mill for that decade.

JFK snow reports: Started with 3 on the ground 3" (0 new) at 7PM 5" (2 new) at 10PM 6" (3 new) at 11PM 7" (4 new) at 12AM 8" (5 new) at 1AM 9" (6 new) at 2AM 11" (8 new) at 3AM 13" (10 new) at 4AM 15" (12 new) at 6AM 17" (14 new) at 7AM 20" (17 new) at 8AM 22" (19 new) at 10AM 23" (20 new) at 11AM 24" (21 new) at 12PM 25" (22 new) at 1PM 26" (23 new) at 2PM 27" (24 new) at 5PM 28" (25 new) at 6PM So it was more like a 24 hour event. 14" from 7PM to 7AM, and 11" from 7AM to 7PM. Stormlover74
I think there was a break in the late morning early afternoon before it picked up again and I recall it actually getting quite heavy in the evening before ending. There was freezing drizzle overnight and some more snow Tuesday morning from the ULL but I believe that was further south. Of course temps jumped up into the mid and upper 40s by Wednesday. Wow, for some reason I remember it as being mostly a night time event with the heaviest snow rates-- it didn't really seem like heavy snow at all during the day. Was 25.5" the storm total, Ray? famartin
The heaviest snow at JFK was definitely 7AM-8AM with the 3"/hour rate. 2"/hour was between 2AM-4AM and 6AM-7AM. Still, for 6 hours after 8AM, 1"/hour fell which is nothing to sneeze at. Then yeah, there was a break before a final burst between 4PM and 6PM. The heaviest snow of PDII was definitely from around 5-8am around here. The snow beforehand was 1-2"/hr for me, definitely impressive but nothing like the insane, dynamic snows like we had on 1/27 this year or 12/26. But in terms of amount of fallen snow, PDII still beat 12/26 here, which was around 20". PDII was likely at least 22-23" and maybe even an actual 2 feet.
