upsloper
Oh man! Any idea where exactly she was in Raleigh? Downtown? She sent me a text, but I just talked to her. She clarified that she wasn't in the hotel when it hit but driving there for the reception and got a call that the hotel was hit. Not sure where it is in Raleigh, but she said she'd send me some pics.

dan11295
WRAl showing major damage from Sky5 in north raleigh... If it was on the ground the entire time it would have gone through the Hunter Park and King Charles areas (latter area not quite as easy to access). Arnold214
Just had aluminum siding fall in the yard from the sky. Something bad just passed to the south. Be careful...it's coming in your general direction.
blueheronNC
damage on south side of downtown may have been intense RFD winds then..unless it was a very wide tornado No, path of tornado connects between these two points. S. Saunders Street damage s. side of downtown, then NE to the Yonkers Road area of NE Raleigh near the Beltline between Capital Blvd. and New Bern Ave.

NCStateMMY
.5" of rain here in about 15 minutes. Did not see any hail. Rain is slackening. Very blessed to not have seen what passed 10 mile south of me. Still crazy to see the falling aluminum siding and roofing tile. Very surreal. Isopycnic
but he siad NORTH raleigh..unlessx he meant more NE raleigh Everywhere from SW to NE raleigh has gotten hit. What WRaL were showing was due north of raleigh off capital blvd.
Moose4
but he siad NORTH raleigh..unlessx he meant more NE raleigh "North Raleigh" is pretty generic around here. The tornado was heading generally NE so the damage points--Shaw University, South Saunders St, Yonkers Road at I-440--generally do connect. I don't doubt there were some serious straightline winds along with it too though. Up here in Durham we didn't get hit by anything near the intensity of the storms in Raleigh and I still got hit by 40+ mph gusts three or four times. Isopycnic
What's odd about this outbreak is that decently large communities are getting hit, Sanford, raleigh, Louisburg, Smithfield, Kenly, Roanoke rapids, Roxboro, wilson, goldsboro, snow hill and soon to be greenville, NC. Areas west of wilmington and SE VA are bad as well. This is very bad for Eastern NC.
