I'm planning on going, but have to wait to be sure. Have a lot of family stuff going on (and not good). I do like the idea Ray had in Woburn. That's pretty convenient. MoS would be fun, but parking is expensive at the venue, then finding a watering hole afterwards...oh well.

Right now I'm about 70% going. Will keep you updated.

As of today, I am officially out. My daughter's ever-so-obsessed soccer coach couldn't take the fact that we had a bye weekend on the 14th, so he went and booked a game with a team that isn't even part of our conference (or whatever the hell it's called in kids soccer). So, I will be traveling 1 hour and 45 minutes in a direction completely opposite of metro west Boston. This was my ONLY free weekend in May.

I would try to make the evening drink-up with you guys but even if I hauled ass, I wouldn't be able to get there much before 8:00pm.

Too bad, as I was looking forward to some hot waitresses.

Grumet-Morris had a huge meltdown in the 2nd period for the Whale. BTW LET'S GO BRUINS !

I don't blame Dov at all, not one bit of that was his fault. That was Ken Gernander's fault. He did NOT have that team prepared for the 2nd period. His game plan was for the Whale to come out laid back and defensive in the 2nd and Portland came out flying, Portland attacked, attacked, and did more attacking, they were very physical and highly aggressive. They just pinned the Whale back in their defensive zone for most of the period. The Whale were outshot like 17-6 that period.

Ken Gernander is an awful coach.

He was huge for the Whale, he was originally signed when they had injury issues to Chad Johnson (who was to be their #1) and backup Chad Talbot. Actually, I think he was already signed but was then sent down to Greenville after Talbot won the backup role. Johnson stunk to begin the season so Talbot got some playing time, he then hurt himself and Grumet-Morris was called up, after Johnson continued to stink Grumet-Morris got some starts, Talbot then came back and Morris was sent down again.

The Rangers then called up Talbot, only to send him back down like a day later then called up Johnson, this is when Grumet-Morris started playing everyday, however, this occurred after the clear-day rosters were made and Grumet-Morris was not on the playoff roster, this is when he really started playing great and he was the reason the Whale made the playoffs. The only reason Grumet-Morris got to play in the 1st round was b/c Johnson was up with the Rangers.

Since the Rangers were eliminated yesterday had the Whale won last night Johnson would have had to go back down to the Whale which meant Grumet-Morris could not play in game 7...unless of course they faked an injury with Johnson and placed him on the injured list.

The Whale.lol What a nick name for a team, team sumu wrestling maybe.

They were the Wolf Pack but then Howard Baldwin reached an agreement with the Rangers (the NHL affiliate of the team) to take over business operations. The first move was to re-brand the team name. I guess they did this b/c they thought it would increase attendance :lmao:

Anyways, they chose the Whale b/c when the Whalers were around I guess everyone used to refer to them as the "Whale".

So they changed the name from Hartford Wolf Pack to Connecticut Whale...they changed Hartford to Connecticut to reach out to all of CT hockey fans.

This of course is what Baldwin had to say on why they changed it.
