I think he exaggerates a bit though...I live like 30 minutes from there, and it hasn't been THAT great of a spring.

Temps will end the month well above normal with lots of rain to aid the spring leafout, lawn, and garden.................how in Gods name is that not a nice spring, and its only April. It could have been much much worse, to finish April with above normal temps is a miracle on its own smokey.

Perhaps if you got outside you might enjoy it?

Tomorrow is going to have a tight gradient in temps...into the 70s south of the boundary and in the 50s to the north of it. Boundary might be pretty close to the pike.

Looks like a carbon copy of today tomorrow here. Ugh. Hopefully Thursday is decent before the late afternoon.

Should be a nice muggy torch down here. Also be on the lookout for scattered strong storms in the warm sector esp in Western New Eng..similiar to PA right now

The longer it stays this way the better. As soon as it truly warms up the black flies will be out in full force. If it could be 45 and murky all Summer I'd be thrilled. Nothing worse than blistering heat and humidity. It's like hell on earth. A day of low humidity and 70's now and then is fine but the inferno stuff does nothing for me. Just glad wew saw accumulating snow the day before yesterday. Now if we can get a little snow in May it'll be 8 straight months with a trace or better.

Why is excessive rain good? I don't need 6" of rain in April after a rainy March...neither does the garden. Soil is WAY too wet right now, really crappy.

Sure there have been worse Aprils like 2007, enjoyed that misery up in Middlebury with constant cold rain and then the 5" of snow on 4/16. Went to Brown to visit a friend for spring weekend on 4/20/07, and that was the turning point. Glorious with 70s that weekend and a thick haze around campus, bands and beers never ending, great times!

I am outside a lot, I have a decent vegetable garden, run outside 2-3 times per week, just played tennis Friday. And from my times outside, I can say it's been more drizzle and wind than sun and warmth.

ok zuck.

numbers dont lie though, and April will end up strongly above normal temp wise. I guess if you are to compare to last spring which was waaaay above normal you would be dissapointed, but this is a very normal spring, the way its supposed to be.

I will take days like yesterday today, and tomorrow with temps near 70 and plenty of sun. Leaf out is happening quickly, cherries, magnolias are blooming and Lilac is very close. Not sure what you expect for april for our climo, I hope you enjoy tomorrow Friday, and this weekend it looks magnificent! Still have not had a 32 or below reading for the entire month of April, that in itself is impressive.

Sorry your soil is too wet, hope it drys out soon!

it was dreary and cloudy and foggy and misty all day at work ( Worcester)...an hr after i get home there's not a cloud in the sky and the sun comes out...mother nature sure gave me the big FU today!

Warm fronts often get hung up about 15-20 miles SW of here...so it will be a tropical paradise in CT and SW MA while its 48F and drizzle here with east winds riding up the hills. But its the price we pay to get more snow in the winter.

Did you get the pic I sent you of the snow sticking here Saturday morning?

Yeah my mom told me everything was whitened here too, but unfortunately I do not know if we got measurable or not. Impressive for a front end thump in late April.

This was taken around 7ish and it kept snowing for a while after, but we only got about a half inch. Crazy huge flakes later in the morning that were going SPLAT against my windshield

Thats pretty awesome.

The only snow I've seen since coming home are the big piles at Lincoln Plaza off 290 that are down to about 8-10 feet. Getting piles into May is pretty good...doesn't happen too often.

Oh I agree with you, temperatures have been slightly above normal. But most people don't enjoy above average temperatures when it's rainy and windy. NYC (Central Park) has had 5.04" of rain this month, for +1.66", and we're not even done yet. March had 6.19", which was 1.82" above normal. So it's been a wet spring, and most people associate wetness with cold, especially this early in the season, regardless if it keeps overnight lows up and causes mild temperature departures. Also, most of the month's temperature anomaly will come from just the last few days of torch; before this warm spell, Central Park was sitting at +.3F, which is about as close to normal as you can get. Even without having any readings below 32F here in the suburbs, we were staying cool because a lot of the days were cloudy with east winds, and I also bet that cloudiness affects people's perception of this being a "crappy" spring.

I agree that the scenery is amazing right now with the magnolias and cherries blooming; we've got a weeping cherry in our front yard that's magnificent. And the dogwoods and lilac are not far behind. So it has been a beautiful spring, and I can't wait till we get some nice downsloping NW winds Friday/Saturday to dry us out behind the front with low dewpoints and wall-to-wall sunshine. Those should be some of the best days of the spring.

I'm definitely liking this week's potential for my garden...I just put in the cucumber and zucchini seeds, and my tomato plants have already perked up with the last two days of warmth. Forecast for Dobbs Ferry is a total torch: 79/62 tomorrow, 75/61 Wednesday, 72/50 Thursday...perfect for all my warmth-loving plants. My peas are already a few inches tall, and the arugula is growing rapidly. Going to have some good vegetables this season, I sense.

You saw the Sun? What was that like? I forget...

Ever read "All Summer in a Day"? Old sci-fi story

ya, worked all day planting trees in worcester...58 but cloudy foggy misty weather...very dreary...got home to Medway about 430-ish...skies cleared and the sun came out a little before 530...i mean, it was like the parting of the red sea...the clouds were just gone and the sky was blue and the sun was shining...weird weird weird

Drove by Lincoln Plaza on 290 today on the E side of ORH and the once huge snow piles there still were upwards of 8-10 feet high. Kind of impressive actually. They should easily last into May.

That's right near where I work. That pile never goes away; the one right by Dicks Sporting goods...Ive seen it there well into May...even with last years mediocre snowfall it was still around in May.
