Despite some discussions indicating a stable marine layer would prevent much of the winds aloft from mixing down, the convection seems to be mixing winds down quite well.

Wind gusts are at or near advisory level in parts of NYC/LI.

the winds were out of control last night. Mixed just fine, stable layer my ass.

Actually not... check out the 6Z NAM and GFS initialization sounding at JFK... both show 50 knots of wind just off the surface, below the inversion. Not hard to get that to the ground.

One of the parking lots that usually floods was filled up with water here this morning.

It looks like parts of Nassau wound up with the heaviest rain totals.

It's good that we have others besides the official stations reporting. The heaviest rain managed to sneak in between 2 official stations - JFK (1.18") and FRG (0.99").

Some of the flashier rivers in the area actually responded quite quickly and are still on the rise. The Passaic River is now forecasted to approach action stage in multiple locations. I really thought I was done with this ****.

We had some thunder and lightning last night but nothing crazy and certianily not one of those storms that will wake you up in the middle of the night with a loud bang, I hate those.

My exact reaction.

I'm issuing a sundress watch for the entire NYC metro for Mon-Thurs of next week. We'll have to see if the threat holds over the next few runs, but it is looking good right now.

I'm not ready to pull the trigger on tomorrow though. Most people, after today, will probably not dress for 60+ degree weather tomorrow.

Will you be wearing your sunflower or your general floral assortment dress if it pans out?
