Moving forward into April..

Yes, sleet is mixing in here in Westchester; I believe this is the latest I've seen frozen precipitation in Dobbs Ferry.

-PLRA

42.7/33

Looks like a parting gift from winter tonight on Mt. Zucker, have had some flakes mixing in from time to time...a few mangled ones just splattered on my driveway.

HPN at 41/35 so I can't imagine this will last long, and it's certainly been mostly a rain event, but still very cool for late April.

Definitely will be the last of wintry precipitation we see until November barring a freak event like May 10, 1977. Interestingly, the latest accumulating snowfall in modern times here in Dobbs Ferry took place on tomorrow's date...a few tenths accumulated on 4/24/1967 in what was certainly an unusual late winter/spring.

Temps haven't been an issue, it's cloud cover. I don't think it's too hard to ask for at least 3 days of sunshine per week; we've basically been getting 1-2 at best. I'd like to see how this spring compares to other years in terms of # of cloudy days.

Now compare the number of cloudy days in NYC versus EKO so far this April, and tell me who the real wimp is. :gun_bandana:

Actually it seems like there's been an unusual number of cloudy days this spring here as well. I can't do direct stats since EKO isn't augmented for cloud cover (or anything else, actually).

EWR, LGA and JFK are running around 80% cloud cover for this month, which is quite high, so I'll grant you this part of the argument. Average is 60-70, I believe.

Nobody is awake on my local threads so I'll post it here also:

A 1035 mb hp system in play, it can work magic. It is what kept the rain away all day yesterday and why the models were drier with their qpf as the moisture headed twds the coast. :) As the ridge moved E ovn, the moisture moved in. This is pretty basic stuff.

More clouds today, hopefully we can get some sun on easter before more clouds and storms come in on monday. Beyond there perhaps tue/wed are less cloudy and much warmer.

Idk Forky.

Euro has non stop rain. Every single 6 hour panel from now thru Tuesday morning has at least .06" of rain.

If we're warm sectored then it will be convective. That's what seems to be the case this go around.

On Pazzo's block it's 65 and sunny right now.

And 3 blocks away it's 48 and rain.

Beautiful day.

Yesterday was gorgeous also. 45 and windy. Nice.

in between obs at nyc a few nights ago it spike up to a hundred. That's why he got a 2 hour leaf out. Warmest spring on his block ever and major severe weather coming this summer.

I'd venture to guess cloud cover is significantly above normal mar- april so far. I cant remember the las time weve had more than 2 days of sun. Ranks up there with some of the worst stretches in the spring. The only saving grace has been the sporadic warm days we've had bewteen the clouds.

the last 30 years are the wettest 30 yr period on record for April...It's par for the course...

Indeed, and the last 10 years have featured multiple wettest months and 50" (+) years. Looks like we're heading that way quickly this year. We will have a couple of nice days next week (Tue - wed) which will be a nice change
