This was the AFD from 5:50 this morning

NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...

THE COLD FRONT WILL CONTINUE PUSH SOUTH AND CLEAR THE SOUTHEAST NEW

ENGLAND COAST VERY EARLY THIS MORNING. A BRIEF BURST OF 25 TO 35 MPH

WIND GUSTS WILL OCCUR BEHIND THE FRONT. THIS WILL SCOUR OUT THE

REMAINING FOG ACROSS THE CAPE/ISLANDS. OTHER THAN A BRIEF PASSING

SPRINKLE/LIGHT SHOWER OR TWO ACROSS OUR SOUTHWEST ZONES...EXPECTING

MAINLY A DRY DAY. PARTIAL SUNSHINE IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP NORTH OF

THE PIKE AS CANADIAN HIGH PRESSURE NOSES DOWN. SOUTH OF THE MA

TURNPIKE....PLENTY OF MID/HIGH CLOUDINESS WILL BE AROUND BUT PEEKS

OF SUN ARE ALSO EXPECTED.

THE MID/HIGH LEVEL LIFT MAY RESULT IN FEW BRIEF PASSING

SPRINKLES/LIGHT SHOWERS MAINLY ACROSS OUR SOUTHERN AND WESTERN

ZONES. HOWEVER...LOW LEVEL DRY AIR SHOULD RESULT IN THE MAJORITY OF

THE DAY BEING DRY EVEN ACROSS THE INTERIOR.

AS FOR HIGH TEMPERATURES...WITH QUITE A MILD START HAVE SIDED WITH

THE WARMER MET GUIDANCE. HIGHS ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION ARE

EXPECTED TO REACH INTO THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 60S.

Monday's 12z NAM and GFS did a much better job than today's 0z NAM and GFS on today's rain. Sometimes within 12 hours of an event, the models will produce a goofy run that verifies much poorly than prior runs.

Looks like mostly a CT /RI event during most of today anyway

It's pouring here...

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...

A COLD FRONT HAS FINALLY MOVED SOUTH OF NEW ENGLAND THIS MORNING.

REGIONAL RADARS SHOWING A BAND OF ECHOES FROM HARTFORD TO BOSTON

THIS MORNING. SURFACE OBSERVATIONS TELL A DIFFERENT STORY

THOUGH...WITH MOST LOCATIONS BENEATH THIS BAND REPORTING CLOUDS

FROM 8-15 KFT AND ONLY TRACE PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS AT MOST. AS

SUCH...WILL MAINTAIN ONLY A CHANCE FOR MEASURABLE RAINFALL AT MOST

HEADING INTO THIS AFTERNOON.

that's a pretty solid shield of precip too. the returns to your SW over NJ/PA etc look pretty meaningful as well.

Yeah it's been pouring over much of CT most of the morning. Even here at the office in Windsor it has been.

Very few of the sfc obs are actually in the heart of the rain band over SNE, because it's so narrow.

Lol, poorly forecast by the models. Raining pretty hard here in Danbury. 48/44

It's like in winter when we say to watch out for a possible deformation band setting up to the N of the system even though it isn't modeled well...except this time it's just rain.

You can see the stretching well on vis loops.

Yeah nice little mesoscale phenomena there. Narrow area of strong lift.

Clouds but fairly bright up here. I'm not sure the rain even gets up here today.

I don't see that stuff in CT getting here, much less to you. The real action was supposed to be tonight anyway, perhaps as evidenced by VA/NC radar returns.. It almost feels like a "drought" situation lately where the rain seems to find a way to miss us. The forecast calls for an inch, however; it's fun to watch unfold, especially if you can pretend it was snow.

It hasn't been all that bad imo. We are due for a disaster like tomorrow...it's April in SNE after all.

I am about 1.5 under normal for the month, been stuck in that marine air with clouds and chilly breezes. One good day so far. Last year was awesome, everything was bloomed, grass growing full tilt etc. Looking around it's still got that bleak winterish look. Looking forward to some sunny, warm real spring type days with full clear blue skies. Couple of hours of late day sun just is not enough.
