oh man.. are we talking about winter already.. I am so excited for summer and hoping it would last forever. It's depressing that the days start getting shorter during the beginning of summer. I wish it happened towards the end.

summer is stupid. Unless you work on a beach or near a pool you are stuck in doors looking for AC. April through November should be 70/55 every day and November through March should be 25/15.

don't get me wrong. I enjoy the snow storms. I just can't take the cold anymore. I don't know what it is. I like extreme heat. Perhaps I should move to Florida

I support this post. The 90's and 80's should be banned.

Today is the 1st day of the winter countdown. From here on out, we lose about a minute a day of sunlight, right until Dec. 20th.

:weight_lift:

What a depressing post; I don't want to think about decreasing daylight until late August, when my attention usually turns to winter.

Am I the only one who completely loves really cold weather?

I love cold weather, and will take it even if there's no snow in the forecast. I know many say that they'd rather have 50s and 60s in the winter if it's not going to snow, but to me, winter's also about persistent cold. I'm a very seasonal type of wx lover, I enjoy extreme cold and snow in the winter, and high heat/humidity in the summer. We have spring and fall for "normal" wx.

I'm not going to lie, I love the extended daylight hours. I wish we'd push the clocks up an hour and a half or even two hours. If the sun wasn't a snow killer I would have liked a few hours more of light in the winter too.

We do not lose a minute of sunlight every day, I don't know where that idea came from.

The important thing to me is the sunset and dusk times...and it stays late for a few more weeks.

Love this time of year.

where are the 90's you promised everyone today?

dude, did you see my posts the page before? I think posts about warm weather should be prohibited. The numbers 90-100+ should be banned, like curse words, along with the words torch, warm, heat, humidity, summer.

We do lose a few minutes in the morning but the sunset time remains the same through July 8th.

Ag3 was right, we lose a little bit of sunlight from here on out. I think Earthlight jumped the gun a bit and was probably thinking exclusively about sunset times.

Love this time of year.

Not a minute every day but we do lose about 40-45 seconds every day. The sun rises later daily. And as the chart points out, starting July 8th, we lose sunrise time and sunset time.

I think AG3 was more right than Earthlight but AG3 exagerated a little, LOL

Yeah. Looking at that chart, we lose 9 minutes of daylight, thru July 8th. So its an average of 30 seconds per day.

I was half right. :P

After July 8th though, we lose daylight faster and faster.

Hi all--long time lurker here.

A favor to ask--my wife is organizing the local elementary school carnival tomorrow (water slides, DJ, games, etc.). It was postponed due to weather twice in May--tomorrow is the last possible day in the school year to hold the carnival. What is your best guess of thunderstorm potential in central Bergen County tomorrow afternoon? My laymen's reading suggests unsettled weather but that they chances of widespread, organized convection seemed to have waned a bit from yesterday, although still possible.

Any gut feel would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
