This won't verify hurricane force winds for us. You'll experience your first strong tropical storm.

The models have this storm gaining strength as it heads north. Like I said, I think we will see winds between 60-70 with gusts over 80.

psv88
Yeah. Gonna be awsome. Even 50mph sustained winds with gusts to 65-70 is awsome. i dont think people realize how strong a 70 mph gust is. your house will be shaking and trees snapping. i dont need a 90mph gust to blow out a window. not fun. Zir0b
I bet no NYC reporting station sees a hurricane force gust. Max gusts will be in the 60-70 mph range.

MJO812
I bet no NYC reporting station sees a hurricane force gust. Max gusts will be in the 60-70 mph range. Tell that to the media on t.v. Almost all of them are saying wind guts over 80 mph.Mike Woods and even Bill Evans are saying that.

The stronger embedded cells are producing 60mph winds in Virginia. Somebody should see a 70-80mph gust.

mempho
I bet no NYC reporting station sees a hurricane force gust. Max gusts will be in the 60-70 mph range. I'll take that bet. You have several official reporting stations that sit right on the water (airports). This thing could have 50mph sustained winds and you would likely see gusts at or above hurricane force.
