I guess, but better safe then sorry... There's got to be a reason why everyone down south has the storm shutters and boards up?

Yea they do it because they expect a storm that will produce winds stronger than tropical storm force lol.

I'm really not. JFK might record some gusts to 80 or so. But just because I'm saying I don't think it will happen doesn't mean it can't. I could be wrong.

And if you are then it does make sense to have the windows taped. I'd rather over-prepare then be caught with my pants down (been there done that not fun thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif)...

No definitely not. Not really expecting hurricane force in Plainview, the friction with land will definitely knock down the winds. I'm just talking about BK on the south shore...

ok good...cuz ill be in melville...i think we see gusts up to 70...

Winds on the backside of Irene will do most damage to north shore of Queens, Nassau and Suffolk.

Likely when its not even raining.

Will be a strong northerly fetch.

In the 1950's a storm that missed to our east had devastating backside winds that put feet of water into LGA, Corona, Astoria, and all coastal communities along the north shore.

LGA has a good chance of getting flooded.

I am not sure if this has been brought up, if it has I apologize....Wettest month is NYC history is September 1882 16.85"...we are currently at 12.08....August 2011 will likely take the top spot...

Yea I mentioned it a couple days ago. August has an excellent chance of becoming the wettest month on record.

They will evacuate Anthony's neighborhood and he will be like the smart Katrina people that stayed and will have to be rooftop rescued.

Assuming he knows how to get to the roof. Chances are he is stuck inside his second floor cutting CVS coupons as the first responders fly bye

Looks like we should have a depression soon, what with all the rapid weakening and non-perfect appearance.

Yeah. LOL. She looks like total horse**** right now.

She needs to rapidly strengthen over the next 12 hours, or there will be nothing left of her.
