Hello all, while I'm normally posting in the Philly subforum, all my family lives on Long Island, so I thought I'd join in up here. I plan to be back in Islip Terrace by Saturday morning if a central or western Long Island landfall appears likely.

Just talked to my parents and they didn't seem overly concerned yet. Is that the case elsewhere up there?

Welcome, but be aware, this is a banter thread, so believe half of what you read, and none of what you hear

Not too much hype right now but the nyc stations arent hyping, yet, tonight will be different.

Hope your family stays safe.

yo, if i lived on LI i would def start stocking up on flashlights and whatnot. Basically be preparing for a category 1 hurricane and tremendous rain and surf.

Looks like based on the early 00z's this is New England's storm. Congrats to them. They cleaned up last winter and the pattern has remained the same. Bascially anyone left of the middle of LI will see rain and that's about it. To the right will be epic damage.

Oh well, we don't need the headaches.

Early guidance models are ticking west every run.

They are playing catchup to the euro, HWRF, GFDL and NAM. Especially to the euro.

The consensus is shrinking for a landfall anywhere from NYC to the Hamptons.

Long nights ahead, feels like its December. Get the coffee ready.

window to tick left is closing, basically its tonight or never. Even 1/2 mile to the left of the center will see very little from this storm that you wouldn't get in a bad thunderstorm. All these storms are the same, gloria, bob, etc, they never bother nyc

Gloria had some impacts to Queens and other areas.

A bad thunderstorm that lasts for 6+ hours.

no real evidence of that, mostly hearsay.

This storm is a turd.

As long as landfall is anywhere on LI, me and Sundog are chasing.

Anywhere on LI is easily driveable from Queens.

Others are welcome to come.

I'm going to chase from the front lawn of my house (with a 12 pack) in Plainview, from the looks of it were going to be right in the path of the core of the storm (eye) if the models hold...
