Isotherm Posted April 7, 2011 Share Posted April 7, 2011 Neither is rural...they are both bad heat islands and CPK is simply the worse of the two...sea breeze is slightly more effective in reaching CPK than Newark and the shrubbery in the Park (along with the minor elevation increase) knocks a degree or so off the afternoon maxima. Agree w/ your point of view William, except for the sea breeze part. Newark airport's position just NW of the upper bay makes it more prone to E/SE sea breezes while NYC is somewhat shield by Queens to its SE. In fact, IIRC, most times when we've got S/SE winds in the summer, NYC exceeds EWR's high temp. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
