Blue Ridge
That blew through my town about an hour ago, and fell as primarily hail here. It was enough to cover the ground and subsequently confuse the entire neighborhood. Though, I am further south and in a warmer spot than Boone, so the chances of it being partially or all snow there are higher. In any case, there is no shortage of lightning within this complex. The dynamics involved are insane given the conditions.

WilkesboroDude
Radar upstream supports additional mixed precipitation past 2am at least for the mountains/foothills. Possibly escaping east. The last area of showers have made it to Greensboro heading toward Raleigh. Impressive.
Gastonwxman
Precipitation enhancement in combo with an increased lapse rate supportive for some hail and cold air is responsible for the hail and snow that places like Boone or the Tri-Cities area are receiving thanks to an upper level disturbance moving through the region.
