Finished the storm with 9-10 inches. Once again Carver County hit the heavy band. It seems like this area always does well with storms, while the northern and eastern metro tend to get consistently lesser amounts. I didn't enjoy this storm as much as the last, since I had to drive in it late last evening. Our season total is now at 23-24"

LOT

DISCUSSION...UPDATED 15Z...

TRAILING PORTION OF BAND OF ACCUMULATING SNOW NOW OVER NORTHERN

IL PER REGIONAL RADAR MOSAIC. IFR CONDITIONS PERSIST OVER MOST OF

THE FORECAST AREA WITHIN THIS BAND...WITH MOIST LOW LEVELS AND FOG

HELPING TO REDUCE VISIBILITY TO LESS THAN A MILE OVER TERMINALS IN

ADDITION TO FALLING SNOW. SHOULD SEE GRADUAL IMPROVEMENT LATE THIS

MORNING AS MID LEVEL WAVE RESPONSIBLE FOR FORCING PRECIP MOVES

SOUTHEAST INTO CENTRAL IL/SOUTHERN IND...WITH MVFR CIGS/VIS

EXPECTED IN LINGERING LGT SNOW/FLURRIES THIS AFTERNOON.

QUESTIONS REMAIN OVER LAKE EFFECT POTENTIAL INTO ORD/MDW THIS

AFTERNOON. RADAR OVER THE PAST FEW HOURS HAS INDICATED WEAK

MESOSCALE CIRCULATION EAST OF MKE/ENW WHICH HAS BEEN DRIFTING

WEST/SOUTHWEST WITH TIME. HIGH RES LOCAL WRF AND EVEN 12 KM WRF

RUN INDICATE THIS FEATURE WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE CONVERGENCE

ALONG THE WESTERN SHORE OF THE LAKE THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON...

THOUGH THERMAL PROFILE RATHER WARM AT THIS TIME FOR SUPPORTING

STRONG LAKE EFFECT PRECIP. MAIN RESULT MAY BE TO JUST PRODUCE A

LONGER PERIOD OF LIGHTER SNOW THIS AFTERNOON FOR ORD/MDW. GREATER

THREAT AT GYY...WHERE NORTHERLY WIND FIELD TONIGHT WILL FOCUS LAKE

BANDS AS THERMAL PROFILE BECOMES MORE CONDUCIVE TO LAKE EFFECT.
