Amazing.... just checked my obs and I now sit with a temp of 64 with a dp of 59. An hour ago I was at 55/49, and two hours ago I was at 48/42. The warm front means business! Winds have also swung around to the south sustained at 10 mph.

The sun is now out in the CLT area as well.

Solid line of severe warned storms west of me now- was thinking of chasing but any tornadoes are likely to be rain/wrapped QLCS type things, so will sit home and await the arrival of the line- 40-50 mph winds at least seem likely...

Seems to be slowing down???

New mcd from the spc includes most of GA, the upstate of SC and southern foothills of NC...

MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 2099

NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

1217 PM CST TUE NOV 30 2010

AREAS AFFECTED...CNTRL/NRN GA...WRN SC...WRN NC

CONCERNING...TORNADO WATCH 758...

VALID 301817Z - 302015Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TORNADO WATCH 758 CONTINUES.

CONDITIONS ARE BEING MONITORED DOWNSTREAM OF WW 758 WHERE LOW LEVEL

MOISTENING AND DESTABILIZATION IS OCCURRING. NEW WW WILL LIKELY BE

REQUIRED BEFORE 20Z.

SURFACE WEDGE FRONT OVER NORTHERN GA/WESTERN CAROLINAS IS SLOWLY

RETREATING INTO THE MOUNTAINS...ALLOWING MOIST AND MARGINALLY

UNSTABLE AIR MASS TO EXPAND NORTHWARD AS WELL.

MEANWHILE...PRE-FRONTAL QLCS HAS SHIFTED EASTWARD INTO WESTERN GA

AND SOUTHEAST AL...AND CONTINUES TO RESULT IN OCCASIONAL EMBEDDED

MESOCYCLONES AND ASSOCIATED THREAT OF WIND DAMAGE/TORNADOES.

STRENGTHENING LOW LEVEL WINDS WITH TIME IN VICINITY OF THE BOUNDARY

WILL MAINTAIN THAT RISK AS STORMS SPREAD EASTWARD THROUGH THE

AFTERNOON AND EVENING. A FEW BREAKS IN THE CLOUDS ARE EXPECTED THIS

AFTERNOON ACROSS EASTERN GA/WESTERN SC...WHICH MAY ALSO SUPPORT

ISOLATED DISCRETE CELLS IN THE WARM SECTOR. WW 758 EXPIRES AT

20Z...AND NEW WW WILL LIKELY BE REQUIRED BEFORE THAT TIME TO EXTEND

RISK EASTWARD.

TWC has a free text service (and a pay voice service). I haven't tried it yet--but just signed up for tonight. Seems to give you warnings based on Zip Code.

Wind is picking up here, since about 11am... Several confirmed leaf-twisters imby over the past hour, quick spin-ups in the SE flow gusting close to 25mph at times. Kind of odd in that I do not recall seeing little "whirl-winds" with such frequency before, almost every good gust spins them up, all over the yard. Partly to mostly cloudy conditions, sun is making appearances between the large cumulus that are passing through. SPC backed off on the wording slightly in the afternoon update, referencing more of a pre-frontal convective band vs discrete cells ahead of the front. 12z WRF agrees and pops this over SC at 0z, band breaks up after that and forms a couple discrete cells working into central NC. Feel the action may be west and south-west of here, from a CAE to RWI line, and to the left of that.
