HurricaneJosh
OK, I overestimated slightly. The Dvorak intensity is 973 mb/90 kt, and that's the 7 pm PST advisory intensity. The forecast once again calls for Kenneth to peak at 100 kt.

phil882
Since June there has been at least 1 major hurricane in each month in the EPac... it looks like Kenneth is about to make that 6 months in a row! I'd say thats mighty impressive!

I'd say thats mighty impressive! Especially considering it's currently the 8th "least active" season since 1966 (satellite era).
HurricaneJosh
Now 957 mb/110 kt-- officially the latest major ever observed in the EPAC. And the new forecast brings it up to a whopping 120 kt (Cat 4). Just an incredible season for the EPAC. Never has there been such a high level of quality from storm to storm:

Srain
SST's are running about 1C above normal in this La Nina pattern. Kenneth could make a run at Cat 5 status. We will see.

HurricaneJosh
Nice porn, folks-- especially calamity. What I'd give to chase a landfalling cyclone that looks like this. Oh, man. P.S. HurricaneJosh
Nice loop, h8. Although the advisories during this loop's time period (15Z and 21Z) indicate a steady intensity of 125 kt, I feel you can see some deterioration in the cyclone's structure toward the end of the loop. HurricaneJosh
Kenneth is really falling apart now-- weakening as rapidly as it strengthened. Winds are down to 95 kt (as of 1 am PST) and the W portion of the cyclone has eroded. It's all downhill from here:

HurricaneJosh
Kenneth has degenerated into a remnant low way out in in the middle of nowhere, and the EPAC looks pretty clean otherwise. I daresay that's the end of this action-packed 2011 season. Stick a fork in it?
