I understand that, but again....I had the H5\SLP overlay for 12z and 00z up to compare; I didn't have the H85 temp image up.

Will saw that because I guess he doesn't mind having 12 windows open, but I just guess from looking @ H5.

I'll bet you anything most mets will have at least slp/precip, 5h, 850 open at once. Scott def had them open, I guarantee you. Thats the way we roll, lol. Its important to see those levels...sfc/qpf takes the least precedence.

QPF for major stations?

Screw job for Dobbs Ferry....acutally you get like 0.80" or something with cold enough 850s easily but the cutoff near you is immense...like from a quarter inch to an inch just SE of you in about 40 miles.

I didn't even have that open because if I did, I would have seen H85 temps....I look at that after the fact.

All I do initially is to compare the H5\SLP overlays from each run.

I'm not disputing what most mets do because I don't doubt it nor do I care.....

Well it's good practice to have the H5 overlay with the surface. It gives you a feel for the interactions between those levels. I know you may not understand everything about that level, but it's a critical level so it's nice to observe what happens.

I think I'd take .8" QPF as snow in early April, thanks.

How much do BOS and ORH see? Over 1"?

It sounds as if the low bombs a bit late for NYC metro but perfectly for SNE. Where does the 700mb low track?

Exactly why I do that....I guessed that it was a good run really early on, but then got a bit worried that it would come a bit too far west because I hadn't seen H85 temps....once I took a gander at those, I deleted it and Will's alarm went off.

I was pleased w my H5 interpretation, despite Will shatting on it.

Its like 1.3 to 1.6 of qpf for BOS/ORH.

If anything like this look to happen, I'll call in Friday to savor it.

Yah. Will never forget the appearance of big fat flakes mixing in with rain March 31 97.

Don't want to get too excited just yet, just one run, but the threat is very much alive.

Gotta hit the sack... hoping to line up for an ipad2 in 3 hours.
