Another question is why dont the local stations use the NWS and dump the extra salary of those on cam mets they dont need?

Well it depends on the station. As others have said, Lee Goldberg on channel 7 and Nick Gregory on channel 5 are excellent mets. You get better forecasts from them than you get from Upton NWS. But Lonnie Quinn on channel 2 is horrendous, as is Mr. G. on channel 11. I wouldn't be for all stations dumping on cam mets, because we'd miss some excellent mets like Lee Goldberg. You just have to tune into the stations that have the good mets and avoid the bad ones.

It's time to stick the fork in this one......you know when I've said its time to give up, its really time to give up. Bring the warm weather "sticks up a big middle finger at the GFS and Euro"

good lord what went wrong, you were doing a snow dance on peoples graves the other day calling them out

I was right :weight_lift:

All the bashers were wrong :lightning:

You thought a solution closer to the coast and all rain would verify (among others thoughts that you posted that you said "were reasonable"). You failed just as much as anyone who thought we would get snow.

Just about every model was preaching big snowstorm if you go back 2 or 3 days, and I'm not the only one who thought it was going to happen, but when the models began to shift and it became clear this thing wasn't going to close off near the NJ coast I knew it was over, hence the change in attitude. I don't wishcast and I'm not going ignore overwhelming model trends. By the way, the DGEX should be thrown in the garbage. It spits out HECS like they are having a sale on them at the weennie store.

The Euro and GFS on Tuesday afternoon were beautiful. I was so excited when both of them showed a lot of snow.:axe:

DGEX is a horrible model and should be thrown in the ocean.

learn not to model hug especially for this time of year. There were red flags that existed with this storm but you chose to ignore them and concentrate on the all the signals giving you snows. Hey thats fine but be balanced about it. Not sure if it was you but there were people bashing NWS about not talking up the snow. You were delcaring victory before the storm had even organized

Forget that, how about the fact we've only had .1 to .2" of precip so far. Even if it was 32 instead of 38 we'd be looking at a slushy inch of snow

I was not the one bashing the NWS. What I did say was that I didn't agree with there snowfall map, and they should have never issued the watches/warnings for specific amounts. How many times do we see vauge accumulations forecasted such as 6"+ at the watch stage during far less marginal situations? Almost every time.

It seems like there wasn't any crazy snowfall in SNE... highest on the list as of a couple of hours ago was only 8" I think.

Have you abandoned our subforum? I haven't seen you post there in weeks.

No honestly I forget which forum I'm posting in sometimes. Often I post my thoughts on the pattern in the NYC forum and my obs in PHL forum. I liked it a lot better with NYC/PHL together.

there were red flags and I wouldn't say that any lessons were learned, because I kind of went against climo and against the trends. :arrowhead:
