<br>Eh...I think there were a few which had the mid level centers closed off the NJ coast. But those are distant memories now.<br>

<div><br></div><div><div>IIRC, the ones that did that were the runs that had the 3rd s/w being the dominant player, and not the 2nd one. (Like the 18z GFS a few days ago). </div><div><div><br>Yesterday, the biggest snow dumps had the mid level centers closing off to our north. It definitely still could have worked if those models verified verbatim, but it just makes for a situation in which there is a lot less room for error than there normally would be.</div></div></div>

yep..I love snow..and I also love the change of seasons.Watching baseball games with 40 degrees and rain is kind of depressing. Not a big fan of April noreasters

Those morons shouldn't have opening day this early.... it's hilarious.... April is more "wintry" than either October or November.

After we get through Friday's nightmare, and aside from next thursday, the next 10 days appear to be average temps at worst. Plus the average april high is around 60. Its time to take off the snow goggles, spring will be out in full force.

I have to agree.. Enough with all the cold weather/snow... It was a great winter.. In fact, one of the best.. Would it have been better if we all got 4-8"+ from this potential event... Ya, it would have been cool i guess.. But you know what... with 65-75 degrees, sunny skies and "spring up" on the horizon - it is time to put the winter of 10-11 to bed.. It surely won't be forgotten- ever!!! I will surely miss Earthlight's "Mother Of God" Posts.... December will be here before we know it!

Severe/Heat/Hurricane season is on deck!!

I could see the "Mother of God" posts being used for an incoming supercell or TC. Hopefully we have some wild spring/summer weather.

There is no severe/heat season coming...it's early April with a few Nor'easters on the horizon. So see what you get from them. NYC metro doesn't have to worry about severe weather until late May at the earliest, and not usually until June. Hurricanes are in August and September.

that would be nice except for the possibility of more cold later on in April...

Besides that Long Island doesn't have a severe wx season in Spring..... our severe weather season is September and October lol. I hope all these spring snowhaters remember this next winter when NYC gets like 10" of snow for the whole season and like one 4" max event in February lol.

The way I want winter basically boils down to this: either cold/snow or warm/no snow. If it's cold/no snow that is just miserable.

Alex, we suffered enough in the 1990s... :axe:

This has been a very special winter season, for sure. Top 3 for Newark, New Jersey.

If nothing else, the weather pattern looks to remain very active. The only thing I enjoy tracking more than noreasters are thunderstorms. The problem is, we gernally don't get too much severe weather in this area. I have been under more warnings than I can count for large hail which didn't verify anywhere in my county. Hurricanes are the same problem.

Yeah, with snow, you have absolutely no control over how much you get...that's why I want all we can get now, because you never know how snowless the next several winters might be.

Though perhaps the theme of strong blocking in the winter might be a prevalent one, again.

Also, Long Island usually just gets sea-breezes anyway. The days of 50, overcast and windy while places just to the west are 68 and sunny...

You would have hated the late 80s and early 90s.... they were perfectly encapsulated by 1989-90..... very cold and very dry December (we did get a warning event in November though)..... very mild January and February.... a weird ass snow event in March (around 4") then a mid 80s hot streak the middle of the month.... then got colder later in the month.... got an inch of snow in early April.

Maybe we will get lucky. Looks like we might have an active tropical season so at least that ups the chances.

Looks like the sun is trying to wake up from its slumber-- we need the same kind of solar conditions to have strong blocking next winter as we had this winter. Those sea breezes usually suck up any chance of severe weather here before June.... living in Rockville Centre as you did, I'm sure you remember how the echoes would get swallowed up by the coastal front as they tried to make it east.

Yep, I hate rain in April too-- basically what I want is either a snowstorm in early April and a heatwave later in the month or if the snowstorm isnt going to happen, a hot month like we had last April :)
